Chapter 39:
"Happy Birthday Kaylin!!!" I heard a familiar voice whisper in my ear. "You're finally 18, my legal girlfriend." I felt him peck my cheek.
"It's my birthday already?" I said, turning over to face Justin. "Well last time I checked, your birthday WAS April 3rd right?" Justin answered laughing.
"Yeah, but it went by so fast!" I exclaimed.
I felt a pair of hands near the small of my back reaching over to my tummy. 'Oh no' I thought. 'please don't be what I think it is.'
Next thing you know, he was tickling me like there was no tomorrow.
"Justin S-STOP," I got out from in-between my laughs.
"Come on. Its your birthday tickles!" he said.
"But, but you know, I, I h-hate being tickled!!!" I laughed. "Exactly" he said smirking.
"JUSTINNNNNN" I yelled, "STOOOOOOOOOPPPPPP" I heard him laugh and finally got all my strength together. I turned him over and started tickling him for a change.
"OK TRUCE!!!" he said laughing. "Really?" he said. I didn't want to stop though. I kept tickling him for about a minute longer; I mean I LOVED his laugh. It was so adorable. "I, I quit!" he choked. I finally believed him and got off of him.
"hahaha, so you've learned your lesson right?" He looked up at me and said "Yup....never, EVER give Kay her birthday tickles." He stood up smiling.
We stood in silence for a while. And then he pulled me into a hug. "I love you, you know that right?" he asked.
"Yeah, I do. I love you too."
I pulled back and looked into his eyes. God, they were to die for. "I have a special present for you."
"What?" I asked a little suspicious.
"Ryan and Chaz are coming over!" he said excitedly.
"Really?!?!? When?!?!?" I couldn't believe it. I haven't seen them since the accident. And I missed them SO much.
"2 days."
I pulled him into a kiss and I felt him kiss me back. It was a gentle kiss, but a meaningful one. And Justin knew what I meant by that. 'Thank you'
"WOW! I should do nice things for you often!" he exclaimed.
I laughed at him and knew he wanted more than just that. But I also wanted to have some fun. So I layed him down on the bed and sat on top of him. I leaned down next to his ear and whispered "I know you want me." I got off of him, winked and walked right of the door.
I mean c'mon. I was hungry.
I was happily eating some pancakes mom made me when I heard loud thumps coming down the steps.
A few seconds later Justin appeared, his face all scrunched up. "That was not funny....." he sat next to me and said in a quieter voice, " I though you were really gonna take it somewhere."
He folded his arms across his chest and sat like a little baby.
"Awwww, is someone mad" I sad in a pouty voice.
"No" he answered. His voice was expressionless.
"Because you know, I can make it all better." I pointed out, playing with his hair.
I got up and put the dishes in the sink. "Thanks mom. Er.....Pattie." I stuttered.
"Kaylin, darling, its fine. You can still call me mom!" She laughed. "And by the way, happy 18th birthday. I was going to give you your present today, but I though that maybe I should when the boys get here. Is that ok?" she asked.
"Yeah, of course!" I wondered what MY present was gonna be. Justin of course was all spoiled and got about everything. But I told mom I wanted something simple. Something a normal teenager would get on their 18th birthday.
I turned and saw that Justin was sitting in the living room. Watching SpongeBob. So I went over and sat right next to him on the couch.
I saw him glance at me from the corner of my eye. He wanted me. But too bad for him cause he ain't getting anywhere.........yet.
"Can we change the channel?" I asked. I really hated this show. Well I didn't hate it; I just didn't like it that much. It got annoying!
"Nope" he answered back smirking.
"Oh c'mon, its my birthday!" I pleaded.
"Fine, but it better not be all girly. Like that barbie movie you made me watch."
"BARIBIE?!?!? Justin, I was eight! GET OVER IT!" I yelled half- laughing and half surprised he even remembered that.
I heard mom laughing from the kitchen.
"Well you guys have fun in there." She said putting her shoes on.
"Wait, mom where are you going?" Justin said freaking out.
"To the store to get some balloons. Calm down!" she smiled.
"But MOOOOMMMM? Don't leave me here with this heartless person. She's MEAN!" he said whining.
"Oh really? Well you're both 18 now, so if you have a problem, talk to each other about it.. Don't come crying to mommy."
"I'll be right back. And behave yourselves" she warned.
*Flashback*
"I'll be right back, OK? Don't leave the house, or answer the door, or-" Mom started saying.
"Or pick up the phone for any strangers." 8 year-old me finished.
"Yes. Now if you need anything or if there is an emergency call me." She said.
"I know" I answered.
"But MOOOOMMMM," 8 year-old Justin whined "Why do I have to stay with her. She's MEAN! And she wants to watch a Barbie movie!!"
"Oh really? Well think about this. You guys are going to be 18 in no time. Then you will move out and make your own future. So if you have a problem, talk to each other about it. Because in 10 years you cant come crying to mommy." And with that she left, leaving me and Justin to solve it.
And we did in a way. I mean we were 8, so we played rock-paper-scissors. I won of course, leaving Justin to watch Barbie with me.
"Hey," I said looking him into the eyes. "At least its not Princess!" I said trying to make things better for him. He gave me a half smile.
"But Kay?" he asked.
"Yeah"
"When we do move out together, promise me you won't make me watch barbie again"
I hesitated for a moment.
"I promise." I said.
*end of flashback.*
