BULLIES

EMILY DECIDED TO GO out for a run, she hasn't exercised in what felt like dozens of years. The music blasted in her ears, blocking any sort of sound. Her tank top stuck to her body from sweating so much, her legs feeling as though they would break off from the heat that was trapped in by her joggers. Her stamina slowly began to decrease, she ran a hand through her knotted brown hair as her eyes averted towards two familiar people.

"Hey!" She jogged over the Daniel and Jace as their eyes widened to see her nodding over to them. She rested her hands on her knees trying to regain the air she lost.

"You guys here alone?" Emily he taking her ear buds off,holding them in her hand.

"Vascos over there." Jace pointed over to Vasco who was doing the parallel bars.

"What's all the noise?" Jace asked.

"Who rides a bike at this time?"

She wrapped her ear buds around her phone putting it in the pocket of her joggers. A group of three boys with girls rode on bikes making their way towards them.

"Do you know them? Why do you keep staring over there?" Emily sat inbetween both Jace and Daniel. She nudged his side as she kept staring over at them. They had noticed them sitting their eyes widened in realization as they began to stand up to go to them. They stopped once Vasco made his way over to them.

"Oh Emily?" Vasco tilted his staring at her in interest his eyes averting ever so quickly to her then back at her face.

"Hiya." Emily laughed slightly as Vasco looked at Jace.

"Jace. Let's go to the bathroom." Vasco said.

"Huh? Oh you've poo. Got tissue?" Jace asked Vasco making a small laugh errupt from Emily's throat.

"Nope. Whew. Let's go. I have tissue." Jace said standing up not before sparing a glance at the three.

"Is it a wetnap?"

After they left Emily turned towards Daniel.

"So what are you doing here Dandan?" Emily questioned curiously.

"I'm trying to change." Was all he said before staring out in the distance. Emily squinted her eyes at the simple answer.

"Hey. Come have a chat." The three guys approached them with two of their girls behind them.
"Follow us."

"Ah, I'm just getting more angry."

"Haha he's got loser written all over his face."

They laughed as Emily pressed her back against the wall crossing her arms in annoyance.

"What? I'm sorry." Daniel apologized. Emily nudged him with her foot.

"Don't apologize." Emily said rolling her eyes at them.
"Screw off. We don't have time for your bullshit."

Their eyes widened at her demanding voice not expecting her to say those words.

"Today isn't your day. We've got beef with the guy with big ears." The purple haired guy said spitting on the floor. Do they mean Jace?

"Are you two friends with him?"

"What it matter to you?" Emily snapped when a voice caught all of their attention.

"They're friends. It's just what I expected." Jace said.
"I see nothing's changed. Come here, Daniel, Emily."

"This punk!"

"Are you alone?"

"Where's the thug?"

"Thug? I'm alone." Jace confusingly said as a spark of hope made its way to the three guys eyes.

"Alone?"

"No thug?"

"Hehe maybe this ass doesn't get it."

"He's just showing off. Because if you, our life was ruined."

"We all dropped out of school."

"You see this scar on my face? You remember right? I'm gonna give you a couple." He clicked open his knife.

"I see you haven't changed. Just get lost... I will often have food delivered for you." Emily covered her mouth to try and cover her laughter but failed as her laugh was the only thing you could hear. One of them shot forward knife in hand ready to attack Jace. When he was close enough to Jace he grabbed a sign hitting the side of his neck.

"You're just spinning your wheels. Can't you learn something?" Then the other two went for Jace. In a snap of a finger both men were down.

"Do you know.. How hard I've worked every morning because of you?" Jace looked down at all of them as they gleaned in pain.
"Enough to make me go bald."

"I'd like to knock you around more but I'll leave my feelings at that. Vasco... Will not be happy about it."

"Lets go." He gestured for both of them to follow him.
