DANIEL'S MOTHER

Emily and Daniel were planning to study but he had to grab something from his home that he forgot. They walked along little shacks, he was emmbarresed to walk to his house when she was with him, she wouldn't judge him right? She had already seen it once.

"Is that it?" Emily smiled at Daniel pointing towards the familiar place, he shyly nodded avoiding her gaze. Emily stood beside him waiting for him to open it. Once he did, both of them saw a lady only familiar to one of them. She turned her attention towards Daniel furrowing her eyebrows in confusion as she saw the lady crouching beside little Daniel.

"Mom?" Daniel questions as the lady looked away from sleeping Daniel.

"Yes? You are?" The lady questions calmly.
"Who are you two?"

Daniel froze abruptly.

"Hello ma'am." Emily greets bowing.

"Nice to meet you. So you are Daniel's mother?" Daniel questions nervously smiling.

"I've heard so much about you."

"I've never heard that before." Emily whispered so only she could hear. Why didn't he tell her about them living together?

"So to save rent, you two are living together?" Daniels mom questions Daniel.

"Yes.. Yes!"

"And Daniel is sleeping before heading to his part time job?" She tries to clear up her own confusion from what Daniel had explained twice now.

"He has an after-school job to pay his living expenses." Daniel scratches the back of his nape nervously.

"Oh, he's all grown up." Daniels mother smiles as tears well in the corner of her eyes.
"Living with a friend to save rent. Working and studying at the same time."

"What are your names?" She smiles at the two.

"Ah I'm also Daniel! Daniel Park." Daniel introduces.

"Amazing! Really? What are the odds? What about you?" She suddenly turns towards Emily.

"My name is Emily Kim!" Emily showed her dimpled smile making the mother automatically smile as well.

"I do see the resemblance between you too." She says directing her attention towards Daniel.

"Oh.. Yes."

"Do you two have time to chat? I want to hear about Daniel."

They entered Star Coffee the familiarity sending Emily into bliss. The entry of the three caused a stir in the café.

"Welcome." The voice becoming to familiar to Emily by the second. She looked up at the boy sending him a smile. His eyes enlarged as he awkwardly smiled back.
