Chapter Nine

Chapter Nine : Only One Makes It Out Alice

Riker's P.O.V

" We'll miss you " My mother said with tears in her eyes as she hugged me goodbye.
" This isn't goodbye forever mom. I'll be back, I promise " I replied with a sad smile as I hugged her back.

After a moment, I sighed before pulling away from here. Annabelle gave me a small smile and I said a goodbye to everyone.

" I'm sorry I dragged you into this " Annabelle said as we walked into the forest.
" What do you mean? You don't have anything to be sorry for " I replied.
" Yes I do. If I wasn't so selfish you could've stayed here, with you family. Your relationship with your sister wouldn't be broken, you wouldn't have the royal guards trying to find you, and you....." She rambled.

I leaned over and gently pressed my lips to hers.

" I'm glad you did what you did. If you never did then I wouldn't have met you, and that, makes all of this worth it. I'm happy to be a part of the rebellion Annabelle. I'm happy with you " I said softly.

Annabelle sniffled slightly.

She was sad.

" She can't be sad. We need to cheer her up " Leon states.

" Hey " I said as I pulled her into a hug.

I whispered soft and soothing words as I held her close to me.

" We've got to get a move on! " Ivy yelled, snapping us out of our moment.
" On it " Annabelle yelled back.
" Let's go " I said with a smile.

" We should stop at Denny's! " Ashton yelled from the backseat.
" No we should stop at McDonald's " Parker replied.

They continued to argue and I just rolled my eyes. They forced me to drive so I wasn't stopping where they wanted.

" Where do you want to go girls? " I asked.
" I don't care " Annabelle replied.
" I'm craving some A&W " Lily replied.
" NO EWW WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU LILY " Ashton started screaming.

Note to self: Ashton hates A&W.

I pulled into the A&W parking lot and we all got out of the car. Everyone was talking and laughing while Ashton was farther behind mumbling things like "I'd rather die" and "this place tastes like garage".

" Order your food and get it to go. We can eat in the car. We still have a long way to go until we get back " Annabelle said.
" And I'm not driving anymore " I added.
" You're such a baby Riker " Ashton teased.
" Then you can drive Ash " Annabelle shot back before I could reply.

Ashton's face paled and the whole group began to laugh at him.

" Welcome home " Lily mumbled as we got to the field that had the trap door.

I looked down at the sleeping beauty in my arms and smile. Annabelle was curled into my chest with her hand slightly gripping my shirt. She had fallen asleep after we ate and I didn't have the heart to wake her when we arrived. She looked so peaceful. She needed her sleep, she is running the rebellion after all.

Lily walked over to me with a smirk on her face.

" No " I whispered " Let her sleep "
" You can't carry her down a latter Riker " She replied.

I watched as Lily quickly took a deep breath, leaned down towards Annabelle's ear, and screamed.

Annabelle shot out of my arms and crashed into Lily, knocking them both to the ground.

" What is wrong with you! " Annabelle yelled grumpily as she stood up.
" Ouch. I think you broke something " Lily groaned.
" Let's go before someone sees us " Ashton yelled as he started climbing down the latter.

We all followed behind him. Lily and Parker made their way to their rooms, Ashton headed to the kitchen for a late night snack and Annabelle was about to head to her office when I stopped her.

" Go get some sleep. You need it " I said to her.
" I can't. There's a bunch of paper work I have to do and letters and emails to look over and respond to and ——"
" I'll do them. I am and Alpha after all. I've done loads of this stuff. Sleep Anna, please " I replied, cutting her off.

She sigh tiredly before nodding.

" Good. Get some rest love " I smiled.

I kissed her on the forehead before we both headed our separate ways. I opened the door to the office and saw seven large stacks of papers that needed to be done.

" Let's do this " I mumbled.

" Done! " I yawned.

I rested my head on the now empty desk. I looked at the clock and saw it was now noon. I had been up all night.

A soft knock sounded and I mumbled.

Annabelle entered the room with a smile.

" Hey " She said.
" Hi " I responded.
" How on earth did you finish! " She yelled, now noticing the empty desk.
" Piece of cake " I replied.

It wasn't a piece of cake.

" Yeah sure. That's why there's bags under your eyes " She said, rolling her eyes.

She walked over to me and placed a kiss on my cheek.

" Thank you Riker " She smiled.
" Anything for you Annabelle " I smiled back.

" GUYS!! " someone suddenly yelled at they burst into the office.

Elijah, Lily, Parker, Ashton and a few warriors piled into the office.

" What's the problem? " Annabelle asked.
" It's time. They found us " Parker said.
" No " Annabelle gasped.
" Yes. The war, it ends in less than a weeks time" Elijah replied.
" We've alerted everyone on our side. They all agreed. It's now or never " Lily said.

The war ends in less than a week.

With only one winner.

With only one side coming out alive.
