Elijah pulled into the Longhorn's parking lot feeling anxious about Amiyah wanting to "talk". It had only been a day but he was so glad to see his wife in good spirits with her best friend today. He prayed that one day soon, she'd fully be herself again.

As he walked over to the table, Deja embraced him into a tight hug. He couldn't help but notice how good she smelled. "I'm glad we decided on doing lunch even though somebody was late." Deja says smiling. "I know, I'm sorry. There's been a lot going on since last night." Elijah sighed. "I can only imagine. I'm just happy we could catch up. I've thought about you a lot over the past few years." smiled Deja as she touched his hand. Elijah had a weird feeling about this but couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Over the next hour and a half, they talked and laughed about their old times in college and what they'd been up to since then. "Lijah Bear, I've missed you so much. We used to have some good times." Deja said as she reached for his hand again. This time he moved it away, feeling uneasy about the contact.

"Yeah, those were the days..but, things have changed since then. And me and my WIFE are going through a lot right now and it's just not a good time for me to revisit my past." Elijah said putting emphasis on the word wife. "Well, she doesn't have to know. Maybe I can take your mind off of some things in the meantime."she said as she caressed his leg with her foot. Elijah stood up, "Uhh..It was good seeing you, but I gotta go home. Lunch is on me." he said placing money on the table and walking away shaking his head.

Elijah drove home with a heavy mind. From Amiyah and their pending conversation to Deja and her weird ways today at lunch. He didn't mean to give her the wrong impression but he was married and would never step out on his wife especially with everything that's going on now. As he pulled into their driveway, he saw that Jasmine's car was gone. Just me and her now  he thought. Sighing, he got out of the car and walked inside to the smell of peach pie. "Amiyah? Where you at baby?" said Elijah walking into the living room taking off his shoes. "In the kitchen babe."Amiyah shouted over her shoulder still standing over the stove.

Elijah wrapped his arms around her. He missed this, just the two of them being content in each other's presence. "Smells good." he said breathing in her scent. "Thank you" she smiled. "I was talking about the food" he laughed. Amiyah elbowed him. "I'm kidding!" he said backing away in surrender. "I made your favorite, pot roast, mashed potatoes, and homemade peach pie." She smiled doing her best Vanna White impression. "Uh-oh. What's the problem? You only make that when its serious."Elijah said raising an eyebrow.

Amiyah smirked and then looked down at the floor, "It's nothing too serious." He walked over to her and lifted her chin with his finger, "Talk to me." He said staring deeply into her eyes, trying to search for what she might've been thinking. "I don't know how to say it. I don't want you to think that I'm weak." she said looking down at the floor again. "Baby, just be honest. Say what's on your mind and I'll be here for you no matter what." Elijah said as he lead her over to the couch and pulled her close.

Amiyah sighed, "Maybe I'm not meant to be a mother. Maybe God's just telling us to move on and forget about a baby. Forget about us. Maybe we're just not meant to be. Things just aren't-" Elijah cut her off, "Whoa, stop it. Amiyah, I know your hurting and so am I but we're not giving up. You're not giving up, I won't let you. Baby, God has a plan for us. If He didn't, we wouldn't be going through all this mess. You're my wife and I love you and we're in this together." Elijah said pulling her into his chest and letting her cry. She cried until she had no more tears left.

"Father, help my wife. Help her, as well as me, to see the good in this pain that we're going through. Help us to lean on you in these trying times and also lean on each other when we need to. I know you're preparing us for an amazing miracle to come into our lives and I pray that when we're blessed with it, we will be ready. Give us the strength and courage to keep going and not give up or give in when things get rough. We love you Lord. In Jesus name, Amen."🙏 they both said in unison. Amiyah looked up at her husband in that moment and saw God's Grace shining upon him. She felt like a weight was lifted off her shoulders and she heard a small voice say, "Get up. You were built for so much more than this!" And that's exactly what she did.
