Kokichi stared up at the sky, feeling the rain drop onto his face. He was always so quiet, but he didn't mind. Less words means less attention. He shut his eyes, raindrops hanging off his delicate lashes as he felt his clothes become cold and wet.

Then, it stopped.

His eyes fluttered open, gaze shooting upwards. There was an umbrella over him, suddenly. His gaze trailed down the handle and up the arm of the hand holding it, until his eyes met those magenta eyes he had come to question. Kaito Momota.

Saying Kaito and Kokichi had an interesting friendship was an understatement. It was downright strange, and frazzled the small boy's mind when he tried to figure out what they were to eachother.

Kaito Momota is the most feared bully at the school. Everyone is terrified of him. Much like Kokichi, he has no friends. But he isn't targeted, because of his strong build and scary look. One day, Kokichi began following him around, determined to find the kindness in him. Eventually, Kaito stopped beating him up and just accepted the small boy's pursuits. He never expressed much interest in Kokichi, but every once in a while, he would do something like this, so uncharacteristically kind that Kokichi couldn't hide a timid smile.

Kokichi stared at him intently, as if waiting for him to say something. He was selectively mute, and rarely spoke himself, so he usually wanted others to talk. He would use sign language if necessary, though.

The taller only shoved the umbrella out further. "Here. You... Need it more than I do." They locked eyes before Kaito turned his head. "Go on. Take it or I won't walk you home." The bully relaxed when the smaller finally took it, gently cupping the handle in his delicate hands, now warm thanks to Kaito's tight grip. His soft lips formed a smile, trying to raise it to cover Kaito's head too, yet he was way to short. The rim gently bounced against Kaito's head, drenching the side of his face.

Kokichi yanked the umbrella back and hid from Kaito's irritated expression. He felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Let's go."

'Let's?' He signed from under the umbrella, the motions catching Kaito's attention.

"Y-Yeah. I'm walking you home. Now hurry up before I change my mind." He growled, glaring at a random student to look tough.

Positioning the handle of the umbrella between his shoulder and chin, he got Kaito's attention and signed 'You're so cool Momota-Kun', smiling cheerfully.

Kaito quickly looked away, exploding in a blush. "Let's go." He began walking, and Kokichi quickly followed.

On the way, Kaito turned to the other, eyes fixated on him. "Is your mom home?" He asked.

Kokichi shook his head.

"Mind if I hang out?"

Kokichi nodded, but there was a bit of nervousness in his eyes.

"It'll be fine. If she comes, I'll go out the window."

Kokichi giggled softly, smiling. That seemed to cheer him up.

Once they arrived, Kokichi had Kaito wait while he checked his room for something.
