Kokichi walked into school the next day, silent again. He glanced around at the entrance, seeing if he could spy Kaito. Normally he wouldn't linger. But he wanted to walk with him. He felt safer with the other boy around.
His warm, happy thoughts of Kaito were soon cut off by his small frame being knocked over, his head banging against the pavement. As he was getting up, he collapsed again at feeling a kick to his side.
"Stay down, nerd!" Someone laughed. Kokichi hadn't bothered to recognize voices. This was a daily occurance. He let the boys kick and beat him while he laid on the floor to hide his tears, waiting for them to leave.
Then he heard a voice he hadn't heard before.
"L-Leave him alone!" The voice shouted, a boy, a bit nervous sounding.
"Oh yeah?" One of Kokichi's attackers taunted. "Why should we?"
The other boy said nothing, but whatever he did alarmed the bullies, as the all shouted "Holy shit!" And "Let's get out of here!" Before running away.
Kokichi didn't see what it was, but it was gone when the boy helped him up. He recognized him a bit, a boy with navy blue hair and the most yellow eyes he had ever seen.
"Are you o-okay?" He asked, blushing with a shy smile.
Kokichi nodded, smiling back.
"Kokichi O-Ouma, right? I'm Shuichi Saihara.. I'm in your class?"
Kokichi took a moment to ponder before nodding, glancing away. He wasn't the most social person, and Shuichi seemed a bit... Too friendly.
Kokichi looked back at him, to see, for just a moment, an obsessive look on his face, but it was gone so quick the small boy thought he had imagined it.
The bell rang before Kokichi could ponder it, and the two ended up walking to class in awkward silence.
They sat in their seats, but they stared at eachother most of the classtime, eventually meeting eachother's gaze a few times. However, Kokichi was the only one who would look away, while Shuichi kept staring at him.
The blue haired boy soon went back to his work, and Kokichi began listening in on the whispers around the room.
"Who's the guy the freak is staring at?"
"That poor kid has no idea who the freak is, does he?"
"He doesn't look creeped out at all..."
"Do you think the rumors are true? That the freak got kicked out of his last school for threatening a kid with a knife?"
"I heard he already killed someone here."
"I heard he stalks someone."
"He's so creepy!"
"I heard he likes Dangan... Something or other, you know, that disgusting show with all the murder?"
"I hear he's obsessed with it."
"What if he killed one of us?"
"It looks like it'll be the mute kid."
"Poor guy."
Kokichi slumped in his seat. He knew these were rumors, but he still was nervous about this boy. He knew so little about him, after all.
Later that day, Kokichi started to the roof where he usually ate lunch, and arrived to be greeted with Kaito sitting at his usual spot.
"M-Momota-Kun? What are you doing here?" He asked, he had decided he would only speak around Kaito, and that it would be his thing for him.
"I wanted to sit with you." He said, looking away. "To keep you company."
He nodded and smiled, sitting down. He opened his bag, looking for his lunchbox when a look of panic struck his face for just a moment, before he frowned and pulled his knees to his chest, stomach growling.
"You have food, right?" Kaito asked, his voice filled with legitimate concern for the small malnourished boy.
Kokichi shook his head, hugging himself tighter.
Kaito sighed. "Look at me and close your eyes."
Kokichi did as he was told, and heard Kaito going through his bag, then he felt something round and cold being pressed to his lips.
"Open your mouth."
He once again did as told, and something was placed inside his mouth. He cautiously bit down, only to taste something sweet and juicy. A grape. He finished savoring the fruit and opened his eyes, looking up at Kaito, who was covering his mouth and blushing.
"G-Goddamn you're cute." He grumbled, his blush growing.
A blush spread on Kokichi's face as well, shyly glancing to the side. "I'm.. Not.." He spoke softly, that cute voice once again pooling attraction deep into Kaito's heart.
Unable to take the distance between them, Kaito crashed their lips together, colliding in a rough, inexperienced, passionate mess. Kokichi pulled himself closer to Kaito, deepening the kiss and wrapping his arms around him. Kaito pulled the smaller boy against himself, cupping his cheek.
The kiss broke after a few moments, both just staring at eachother and trying to comprehend what they had just done.
"Kokichi... I-" Kaito was cut off by Kokichi kissing him again, attempting to press their bodies flush together, to which Kaito happily kissed back.
For the rest of the period, they found themselves having bits of conversation while sharing a meal, but constantly interrupting themselves by kissing.
And dear god did it make someone's blood boil.
