Rayla wakes to Callum, now in much better shape starting to slowly walk around. She hastily sits him back down on the bad and asserts that she will do everything for him until he has fully recovered from his injuries. Callum, thankful for the help, insist that he is well enough to take care of himself. Rayla understands his perspective, it wasn't that long ago when her own family assumed she didn't have what it took to better the world.
Callum laid back down on the bed, defeated, but understanding. Rayla made breakfast, it felt good not having to worry about rationing. She finished with the breakfast, yummy eggs and pancakes. She went back into his room and gave him his portion of breakfast. Callum was relieved to be back in the moment. Since Rayla insisted he stay in bed one more day he took the book of arcane spells and started studying. Rayla, lost for things to do, went outside and looked around at the beauty of nature. She took out her blades and started cleaning them.
She got lost in the motion of stroking the blade with the cloth and found herself in a state of deep thought. She didn't snap out of it until Callum came outside and called for her. She rushed over to him and beckoned him back to his room. It was an early time for dinner but neither ate lunch so they were fine with having it a little earlier. They cooked up fish, that Rayla had gotten in Callum's sleep, and ate together on the bed. While they ate, Callum talked about all he has discovered, and Rayla, about all the weird faces Callum made while unconscious.
They both sat and laughed together until they were both done. Once they had finished, the sun had barely set and a soft, pink, glow was displayed on the sky above. They went outside and sat on the grass, feeling the blades on their skin. As the last traces of day receded, they felt the cold and darkness take over the land. They went back to the cottage and sat on the couch.
It was a full moon that night so in the wake of darkness Rayla was almost invisible. She had no intention of hiding herself... at least not anymore. Having control over these powers she stayed in her normal form. Callum, having a lot of energy still keeping him going, thought this was a perfect time to study moon magic. He brought out his book and looked for the simplest spell. What came up was an illusion spell, luminense, and he planned to try it on a simple orange. His goal was to make it look like an apple, he didn't care if it took him all night.
He had been trying all night but he simply couldn't do it. He fell down in the grass, both from exhaustion and frustration. Rayla, still up concerned for Callum, carried him back and placed him on the bed. She was glad to have Callum back but started having mixed emotions about their relationship. Out of curiosity she went out, looked into the moon, and tried to cast the spell. She couldn't do it, even with the moon arcanum she wasn't a mage let alone able to cast a simple spell.
She laid down next to Callum, thankful that tomorrow they might be able to do something together. As always, she lay back down and felt as all the worries of the day melted away. She thought of all the things she could do with Callum tomorrow and in these moments of thought lost herself to what her body so desired.
