Jungkook stumbled through the forest, trying to put as much distance between him and Yoongi as possible. He looked behind him, not seeing the Gumiho behind him.
He continued running, willing his heart not to fail him now. If he fell unconscious, he'd probably never see the light of day again. Or he could die.
It was only when Jungkook reached a large lake that he realised just how lost he was. From the cemetery, you couldn't see a lake, and this lake was big enough for it to be pretty hard to miss.
Jungkook paused, looking around for a few seconds. He listened for the sound of someone following, but all he could hear was the sound of his own heart thumping in his ears. He then decided the best course of action was to completely ignore everything he'd been taught about getting lost and began walking along the edge of the lake.
Jungkook was so focused on become unlost that he didn't noticed the tip of a creature's head poking out of the water, the thing watching him. The creature silently began swimming up to the shore, barely creating a ripple in the flat lake.
The creature's arm suddenly shot out of the water, grabbing on to Jungkook's ankle. Jungkook yelled out as cold, damp fingers pulled him down, pulling him towards the water. He clawed at the ground, attempting to free himself from its grip.
The creature grinned as it pulled Jungkook into the water, dragging him into the deeper part of the lake.
Jungkook gasped as his head went under, icy cold water surrounding him. He tried to swim back to the surface, but the creature grabbed on to his wrist and held him there, its fingers digging into his skin.
"Not alone anymore, not alone anymore, not alone anymore, not alone anymore..." Whispers surrounded Jungkook as the creature moved closer. Jungkook's lungs were burning and black spots were appearing in front of his vision.
He accidentally breathed out and then in, swallowing a large gulp of water. This made Jungkook cough and swallow even more water, his struggles against the creature weakening.
"Not alone... Stay here forever..." The creature reached up and softly touched Jungkook's face, while Jungkook could feel himself slowly losing consciousness.
A pair of hands suddenly grabbed Jungkook from under his arms, pulling him away from the creature. The creature looked mad, but it just swam in the spot, watching as Jungkook was pulled to the surface.
Yoongi lay Jungkook on the ground, placing two fingers on his neck as he checked for a pulse. He frowned and then leant down, giving him mouth-to-mouth.
The creature stood at the edge of the water, watching Yoongi save Jungkook and frowning.
Jungkook spluttered, coughing up water and slowly opening his eyes. Yoongi let out a sigh of relief, sitting back on his feet. Jungkook continued coughing, sitting up slightly.
"So I'm guessing you've met Taehyung." Yoongi said as he rubbed Jungkook's back, looking out at Taehyung. He gestured for Taehyung to come over, and the ghost slowly walked out of the water.
Jungkook sneezed, reminding Yoongi that he'd just been in the cold lake. Yoongi scurried off for a second before returning with a blanket.
"Take your shirt off." Jungkook's eyes widened as he looked up at Yoongi. "You'll be warmer without it, it's drenched. Now take it off, or you'll get a cold." Jungkook pulled his shirt off and allowed Yoongi to wrap the blanket around him. Yoongi kept his hands on the blanket, rubbing it to create friction against Jungkook's skin and warm him up. Jungkook stared up at Taehyung, who was standing in front of them.
Now that Jungkook wasn't trying to escape, he could actually see what Taehyung looked like. Taehyung looked like a human, just he had extremely pale, grey skin and dark shadows around his eyes. He was wearing an extremely tattered school shirt and shorts, both of which looked like they'd been put through a lot.
"This is why you shouldn't run off on me." Yoongi said quietly, his mouth extremely close to Jungkook's ear. "Because my friends might try and eat you."
When Yoongi said the words 'eat you', he snapped at Jungkook's ear, his teeth clicking together. Jungkook jumped, making Yoongi chuckle.
Taehyung shook his head, taking a step towards them.
"Not eat..." Taehyung said, his voice raspy. When he spoke, some water dribbled out of the corner of his mouth. "Just want to be friends.."
"Taehyung is a mul gwishi." Yoongi explained. "He was drowned by these kids at school, and now he haunts the lake. Due to the nature of a mul gwishi, he is lonely and will drown anyone who passes by in an attempt to make them stay with him forever."
"I'm... all alone." Taehyung sighed, sitting down in front of the pair. "No one likes a ghost."
"Just like no one likes an incredibly attractive person that can turn into a fox and eats hearts." Yoongi said, chuckling slightly. "We're both alone."
Jungkook suddenly burst out crying, covering his face with his hands as he sobbed. Yoongi's eyebrows raised in surprise and he looked at Taehyung, who was looking equally as surprised.
Yoongi slowly wrapped his arms around Jungkook, pulling him close to him, at the prompting of Taehyung. Jungkook continued to sob into Yoongi's chest, shaking in his arms.
"I just want to go home." He cried, and Yoongi gently stroked his hair, his tails slowly wrapping around him. "Please just let me go home."
"I'm sorry, Jungkook. But until I know I can trust you, I'm afraid you're stuck with me." Jungkook continued to cry as Yoongi attempted to hug him.
Taehyung watched helplessly, wishing he could help comfort Jungkook, but he couldn't. The most he could provide was a cold, wet hug. And that wasn't comforting at all...
