Chapter 2 Prologue: Shadow's Past

The day is Saturday, a week after the after the shipyard incident, and Shadow is sitting on his bad, inspecting his newly acquired blade, slightly messing around with the orb in the hilt, changing the dust types before returning the blade to it's normal form and sheathing his blade on his back. He then turns to his photo of his family and thinks back to when he talked to Pyrrha and Team RWBY Back In Forever Fall. 

Flashback to Forever Falls...

Pyrrha: Look...I'm sorry your family passed...It's heartbreaking to hear that happen to someone...Nora and Ren feel the same way...and Jaune probably feels guilty for bringing it up.

Shadow: *takes off his mask* I'm glad you understand...but I feel like with the friends I have, you, Nora, Ren, Jaune, all of Team RWBY, and Velvet...I think I'm the only one who lost their entire family...

Pyrrha: Well, just understand that if you need someone to talk to-

Weiss: You can always talk to us.

Shadow quickly puts his mask back on as Team RWBY had entered the conversation.

Shadow: RWBY, I wasn't expecting this arrival...you probably heard my argument with Jaune last night, huh?

Ruby: Yes...and listen, we all had time to think about it...and you don't have to accept...but...

Yang: We wish to know about your family...

Blake: We thought that if you opened up about your family, it won't weigh on you so heavily.

Weiss: We just want you to feel like...*looks to her team* we are your family now...

Shadow looks at the ground, thinking about it before raising his head to respond to Team RWBY.

Shadow: I... don't think I can talk about it yet...maybe when I have more confidence I'll talk about it...

End flashback...

Shadow thinks about the invitation to speak about his family to RWBY. He grabbed the photo of his family and walks out of his dorm and heads to RWBY's dorm, and raises his hand to knock, but hesitates. He thinks about Grimmora, his new form and his actual self, with his angel form having a completely different name.

Shadow: [It'll be best if I don't have those questions be brought up, please don't make this weird.]

Shadow then knocks on the door, with Blake opening the door quickly, smiling seeing Shadow at the door. The rest of Team RWBY soon joining Blake at the door.

Blake: Hey there Shadow! You need something?

Shadow: Yeah...But may I enter the room to talk with your team?

Blake: Of course! Come on in.

Shadow enters the room and pulls one of the chairs from the desks and sits down, as the team looks at Shadow.

Ruby: So...What did you want to talk about?

Shadow: Well...here's the thing. Remember back at Forever Falls when you invited me to talk about my family?

Weiss: Yeah...But you wern't too keen about talking about them.

Yang: Is this what you wanted to talk about?

Shadow: Indeed...I feel like I can now more comfortable to talk about who they were. This might take a while, so take a seat.

The team sits down in separate seats, all interested about learning Shadow's past as he pulls out the photo of his family and shows it to RWBY.

Shadow: I should start from the beginning, where all stories begin. I was born the youngest of my family, my only sibling I had was my older brother, Bartz Strife. My mother, Rosa Brunette, went to Beacon Academy with my father, Zack Strife. They graduated with flying colors with their team, SBIR, or Songbird, was their team. Though after a few years of being huntsman and huntresses, my mother and father retired to have a family. So that's how I and my brother were born.
