My palms start sweating and I panic. The Doctor is going to leave me here...alone. I'm with him in a strange and huge city and he's leaving me, and there's a slight chance he might not return.
He runs out before anyone can stop him, and I'm stuck there with Island and her evil eyes glaring upon mine.
"If he doesn't come back here within the next ten minutes, I'm calling the manager and he'll report you." She hisses.
I wait there awkwardly. Um...five minutes pass. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Island sighs and pulls out her phone. It's new and it looks so much more different the iPhone 6 that came out earlier. But that was years ago. Centuries ago, probably. But then I remember why we're here.
To save a little boy's life.
I sigh and try not to cry. The Doctor left me. And now I'm going to prison!
Suddenly, he bursts in the room. "I'm back!" He yells. He walks up to me and touches my cheek. "You didn't think I would leave you here, did you?"
I smile. "Didn't doubt you for a second." Which, of course, is a huge lie.
Island rolls here eyes. "Ah," he hands her an $100 bill. American money looks weird.
"What, no tip?" Island asks hastily.
"You threatened to report me because you thought my friend was gonna run away without paying. You have video cameras, you know, by the ATM? It might as well be part of the restaurant, it's so close." The Doctor stiffens when I say "video cameras".
"What's wrong?" I whisper. He pulls me out of ear reach. The nasty waitress who I once thought was nice rolls her eyes and walks away, I guess I should really trust no one here.
"Video cameras? By the ATM?? You shouldn't have told her, what if she checks them?" He grabs his hair and spins around, frustrated.
I laugh. "There aren't any video cameras. How would I have known if there were?" I ask.
"Oh. Yes. Quite."
"How did you get money, though? Do you have a credit card?" I ask.
He pulls out a long silver cylinder. "Sonic screwdriver!" He says, proudly.
Oh. I think. Like from season three.
"Oh! Is that really the sonic screwdriver?" I practically scream.
A blue light comes out. I hear it pulse.
ASDFGHJKL
My eyes widen. "Oh my goodness!!"
"Yeah." He puts it in his pocket and grabs my wrist. "Listen up." He says to me. "I'm not supposed to be here. I have bad history with this place."
"What?" I question.
"Don't ask. Don't call me the Doctor. Call me John Smith."
I smile. John Smith. Aww.
"Alright, Mr. Smith," I say
He chuckles. "Let's go back to the hotel, we'll get started on our mission in the morning."
