an unexpected departure?

The next day, I come to work by myself. Anderson was already there, as he left me some of his French toast on the table.

I was groggy coming to work, having drank some whiskey the night before. Though I remember what happened that night, I think I was still an idiot for even drinking when I have work the next day.

"Good morning," Anderson greets me as I walk inside his office. "That whiskey made you sleep like a lion."

"Ah, it sure did. I feel like an idiot though, drinking when I have work the next day," I replied.

"Have you heard of the news?" he asks me.

I then threw back another question at him. "What news?"

"Someone's leaving."

"Who?"

"I don't know, but they say it's someone prominent," he sighs.

"Huh...you don't even know who's leaving? Maybe that's just speculation. No one leaves, Anderson, okay?"

"Why do you say so?"

"Because I feel like it's just gossip," I answer him.

"Now, let's go back to work."
