"But we all promised Sire, that we would protect this last magi-" the Captain of the guards voice began to quiver under the stares of the Royals before him. His armour began to clatter as he shook. His throat went dry and he closed his eyes as he was interrupted abruptly by a much stronger voice.

He mentally scolded himself as he feared his own King and Queen but a violent, death prominent war never even made him flinch once. If he angered them too much he would face a death no Captain would like to have his name under.

"Do you not hear your King? We want the magical gone! To the very bottom of the sea where it can't harm us or our Kingdom. It can hurt the mermaids for all we care!" The Queen's voice roared through the empty throne room.

The Queen was a mighty woman, previously a Royal Captain herself before she went to take her place under her husband, the King's, shadow.

The King slouched in his throne with a proud smirk on his face. His wife, the Queen, pleased him greatly. No one understood him better. He thought the Captain was the same but soon he realized that wasn't so.

"We want it done quickly, so I suggest you do it now," the King spoke calmly, too calm for the Captains liking, "Take her from the dungeons and make sure she disappears without a trace into the sea,"

He stood up, his tall and broad form almost blocked the light streaming in from the window behind him. Head held up high, he took long strides, slowly, towards the exit of the throne room. The Queen quickly trailed behind him with a similar power in her walk.

The Captain shivered in his place, "But, the seas have never been so rough until tonight," his eyes went glassy, fearing the worst reply or even a sword to the heart.

The King and Queen paused in their places. Simultaneously, they eerily slowly turned to face the Captain with a burning stare. The Captain could swear he saw pure fire in their eyes.

"Did I not make myself clear? I don't care whether the sea is rough or not, the magical will drown in it tonight! My word is final coward Roberts!" The King spat, storming out of the room with a loud slam of the grand doors.

Captain Roberts flinched in his place, hand on his heart. He hated the word coward. Especially at such a high position, he thought he avoided that title long ago.

A new strength and confidence grew in him, to prove to himself and everyone he was anything but a coward.

"Prepare a ship men! Someone collect the Guardian! They die tonight, King's order!," Captain Roberts voice bellowed through the palace and was accompanied with the scattering of boots.

"The last Guardian is going tonight," he whispered to himself, breathing out slowly. Clenching his fist, he swiftly walked out to the docks.

A/N:

I wonder who this magical is. Wait did they mention mermaids? That's cool but, what will happen with them? Why do the King and Queen seem like such couple goals yet a bit horrible?
