Vanessa raised at an eyebrow at Fantasia's outfit. Sleeveless shirt with a turtleneck, black pants and short heeled combat boots. She held the hilt of her sword as she watched Vanessa quietly stroll around her. The knight's hands behind her back. She wore black which was an odd contrast to her usual mostly gold ensemble. The knight wore short heeled boots as well, high waisted jeans and an off shoulder long sleeve black shirt. Not even her golden bandana on her head but it did surprise her when she kept on the ring from yesterday's ball. Her sword stayed sheathed but it wasn't surprising to find that it was golden.
"You know," Fantasia began," You look more radiant in the rays of the sun. Are you sure you're not of Melodian blood?"
"Not at all my air maiden." Vanessa answered," I'm just lucky I guess." The princess laughed and gripped her swords hilt," Hope you're lucky enough to survive the land's best fighter." With that, Fantasia ran towards the knight. With a perfectly placed stomp, she flipped forward and swung her sword in diagonal half circle. Vanessa didn't even flinch, ducking down to a squat and sweeping her legs. But before she could hit the ground, the knight held her hand to keep her from falling. Vanessa chuckled," Opening and venerability." The princess's eyebrows creased as she got onto her feet. "What, I—"
Vanessa chuckled," You have openings everywhere but that's just to a person who is very skilled, as I am. And you rely on your sword as your first move. Just because you have it doesn't mean you should use it. Who is your teacher?"
"I am," Midnight answered, leaning against the doorway of the royal gardens. "Seems you left out a few important details about fighting." Vanessa said with a chuckle. "Like you know what you're talking about." The advisor protested," I trained Fantasia to be the best fighter in all of Melodia in seventeen years. You?"
"Everything and more in a year."
"I'll be the first to test that out."
"Midnight—"
The princess froze when the advisor growled and her dark gray eyes sparkled with annoyance as she gave Fantasia a cold, sharp, side glance. The advisor rushed forward, swinging claws, fists and hard rubber soles at the knight. Each a miss. A swift, easy miss.
A kick. Vanessa ducked down, twisting her body and spreading her feet in a wide manner. With another twist of her body, the knight landed a boot's hard heel to the advisor's jaw.
Thud.
She gripped the grass in her hand as she slowly got up to her feet. Fantasia saw the change in Midnight's eye, the black circle dilated ever so slightly. Before the princess could have a chance to react, the advisor transformed into a big, black wolf in the blink of an eye. Vanessa grabbed the nearest tree branch and held it in the way of the wolf's mouth.
"Midnight." Fantasia said forcefully. The wolf's teeth chomped down on the branch and tossed it away before growling in the knight's face.
As the advisor walked away gripping her jacket in her hand. The princess saw blood dripping from the corner of her mouth from Vanessa's kick. Fantasia reached out to help her but the advisor slapped her hand away.
------
"I'm about sorry...today," Vanessa said," I shouldn't have—"
"It's okay," Fantasia replied," Midnight sometimes get prideful about things and it tends to make her easily angered."
"But I shouldn't have done that, I was only trying to show her my skills, I didn't mean to hit her that hard."
"We never can completely measure our own strengths." Fantasia remarked with a closed mouth smile as she held the knight's hand. "You're are right about that Fantasia," Vanessa added," No matter how much we measure and calculate, we can never tell how strong we really are."
"Spoken like a true nerd."
"Wow, I'm a nerd now."
"Not as much as me but a nerd nonetheless." Fantasia added as she laughed. "Unbelievable." Vanessa remarked, laughing as well.
