Her Guardian

Chapter 12

Daniel

It has been a week since I brought Alice home.

She looks so vulnerable, always scared of something or the other. She keeps to herself and is so silent all the time.

She talks only in whispers.

A week ago she had a nightmare, since then she looks like she is at the verge of death.

I turned to look at her. She was curled up in the corner, deep in thought.

A knock on the door cut my train of thoughts.

I growled, I knew exactly who it was.

Alice grew tense and anxious . She was sticking to the wall, trying to get as far as possible from the door.

I gave her a weak smile and turned to the door.

If Olivia was here for any mischief, I would rip her into tiny pieces.

I opened the door. Olivia stood there, not quite looking me in the eye.

" What the hell do you want Olivia?" I half growled at her.

She flinched, and said " I found my mate Daniel." 

My eyes widened. Mates were an important part of a vampire's life, well, existence.

I was shocked that someone like Olivia could have a mate too.

I rose my brow and asked " So?" 

She answered " He asked me if I had a pet yesterday and I lied that I had one. I was wondering if you would let me borrow Alice for an hour." 

" NO WAY!! " I growled."  You are not touching her again. The poor thing is way traumatized due to your torture."

She snorted and said" Come on Daniel, she's just a pet, who cares if she is traumatized. "

That was all it took for me to slap her.

She looked shocked but then she regained her composure and looked at me, anger flaring in her eyes as the bruise on her face healed.

The amount of force I had put when I slapped her would've been enough to kill a human.

"  Look Daniel, I need her please, I need to show her to my mate. I assure you I won't lay a finger on her."She said, trying to calm herself.

" Don't you understand the meaning of 'NO'  Olivia?  Please go before I lose my temper. This time I'll make sure you won't go back alive. " I said, starting to close the door.

She blocked it , "  Look Daniel, I haven't told my mate what you did to me yesterday. If I do tell him, he'll make sure you won't be alive. "  she said, trying to threaten me.

I snorted and said "  Trying to threaten me are we?  Go on. Did you forget why I did that?  When your mate gets to know why, do you seriously think he will kill me?  He will surely be happy that I don't like you"

She grew even more angry. She started"  Listen Daniel I-"  but she was cut off by a faint whisper which came from behind me.

" I'll go master." Alice whispered.

I shook my head " You don't have to Alice, she will only trouble you." 

Alice said nothing, but looked at the floor.

I turned to Olivia, she was staring at Alice, she probably thought where Alice had got new clothes from.

" I'll go. " Alice whispered again.

I sighed in defeat, then turned to glare at Olivia "I want her in the same state she is in when she comes back."  I growled.

Reluctantly  she agreed.

" Take her then, but she is not going to crawl. You and your mate, both of you will not hurt her. " I said.

Still angry, she agreed. 

I watched as Olivia led Alice outside, I saw the sorrow in Alice's eyes as she went out.

That girl was brave, even though she was a timid creature.
