Chapter 16

Alice

He jumped down from the window ledge effortlessly, with me in his arms.

Not to mention the blush I felt when he scooped me up, bridal style like that.

He landed silently and put me down.

We ran, I was just about as fast as him. We scaled the courtyard wall, entered the sprawling gardens and made our way to the back of the castle.

"Is it possible for me to climb the wall? " I whispered while we hid in the bushes.

He shook his head, " No, this wall was especially designed so pets wouldn't try to escape. " he whispered back.

Then, with mischief lingering in his eyes, he whispered " I can carry you on my back. "

I blushed scarlet again while I nodded.

He kneeled down, helping me get on his back.

I tried to savour the feeling.
Though all vampires were mercilessly beautiful, Daniel was the only one I felt was truly beautiful, both in and out.

" God, you are too light. " he whispered, chuckling.

I rolled my eyes," Daniel, did you forget I did not eat properly for two years. Plus with your vampire strength I would feel light. " I whispered.

He chuckled again, then suddenly shifted into a crouch and sprang up onto the wall.

The motion was so fast it made everything a blur.

He then climbed the tall walls, getting hold of the cracks. He jumped into a huge room through a window and helped me get down.

" Where are we? "
I asked.

" The Lord's room. " he said, looking straight ahead.

" Where is he then? " I asked.

" He's leading a hunting party to sniff us out. " he whispered back.

" Who is it? " Someone shouted, making me jump.

Daniel growled and crouched in front of me.

A guard came into view in the moonlight.

" Oh it is you! Daniel the traitor and his pet. We were searching for you the entire afternoon. " he said.

Daniel growled again and sank lower into his crouch.

" How will you find us? we're smarter, we moved away from this castle. " I said." We moved to the ruined fort behind. "

He grinned and said " Then don't you think you are a fool to tell us about your whereabouts? "

I grinned and answered " You won't live to give this information to your Lord. "

The guard growled and crouched. Clearly my remark had set him off.

Daniel and the guard, both sprang onto each other at the same time, an earth shattering boom sounded all around when they crashed into each other.

They wrestled on the floor while they tried to nip at each other's necks.

Eventually the guard got up, picking Daniel up with him. He was trying to rip away Daniel's head while Daniel tried to do the same to him.

I took this as my chance and ran behind the guard, I climbed onto his back - and being tiny as I am - sat on his shoulders and caught the sides of his head.

He tried to catch hold of me, but Daniel caught the guards now free hands and twisted them.

With a metallic screech his hands tore off, falling onto the wooden floor.
