------------------------------------STORY START <3-------------------------

     Elaine turned to her sulking brother, King,  with hurt in her heart as she stared upon his face as she read his which was beating out of his chest. She knew he had been gathering the courage to kiss Diane for years- something he had dreamed of for centuries. She was proud of her brother for expressing his true feelings to Diane, maybe not in words just yet, but definitely in actions. However, Elaine also knew what was in Diane's heart from the conversation the two girls held months ago. Diane broke down to Elaine lamenting over her now remembered past with King... how his real name was Harlequin... how they were in love... how he promised to love her forever yet left her behind twice. Diane also felt upset that Harlequin had never brought up their past regardless of the state of her memory, and took his actions as a sign he no longer loved her. So even though the serpent sin's heart had yearned to be with her long time love, Harlequin, she decided to try to move on from him.

       Though Elaine knew all this,  she tried to relay the information to her brother without taking away from things Diane should tell him herself.  She said to King, "Brother... Diane called you Harlequin because she got her memories back a few months ago, actually not long before you left with Ban for the Fairy King's Forrest. She was heartbroken that you left her again and she believed in her heart there was no chance anymore, that you broke your promise wanting to love her forever. She decided to move on."

      King listened attentively and experienced a roller coaster of emotions throughout his sister's explanation. JOY- joy from knowing that Diane cared about him and remembered their past. REMORSE- remorse that Diane had to go through him leaving her not once but twice.  ANGER- anger that she did not tell him her memories returned, so he could have told her he loved her still...but also anger at himself that he ever erased her memories in the first place. FEAR- fear of what her moving on meant. Was she already moved on or in the process of doing so?

       King tried to hold it together but bust out into tears under the night sky. Elaine held her brother in her arms and tried to comfort him the best she knew how, but recognized this was not a situation you could slap a bandaid on so easily. Diane and King's love story was complex from the start. Even Ban felt bad for King, shown through his restraint of not teasing him while at his lowest point. Meliodas walked up to them and said, "Look guys, I know this is not good timing...but we have to head back to the Boar Hat so Mama Hawk is not too tired to fly so late at night. I'm sorry with whatever happened, King, but I know you can fix it. It is never too late." King tried his best to look up at Meliodas with wet eyes and a small smirk to show he appreciated his sentiment, even if he did not personally agree.

      With no time to waste, the group packed up their beach gear and sat on top of Mama Hawk to fly home. Diane and King sat on opposite sides of Mama Hawk's back. King chose to sit completely alone in one corner, while Diane placed her head gently on Elizabeth's lap while Elizabeth comfortingly ran her hands across her friend's back. The rest of the group were more silent than they had been in months, because even they could feel the emotional intensity between King and Diane after their falling out. There were so many moments Hawk and Gowther almost broke the silence, but the others covered their mouths before any questions or bold declarations escaped.
