I remember a while ago when we were burning off some fields in preparation to plant new crops. Something I noticed is once you light that fire, boy does it burn! In fact, it can be very dangerous to burn fields if you are not adequately prepared. This is something I realized today: if there's a fire within us, it should burn! Just like when you light that first blade of dried grass, the other blades follow within seconds.
The point I'm trying to get across is if we have the Holy Spirit in us, it should show! Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, people should look at you and go, "Whoa, there's something different about that person."
And when I say "wherever" and "whatever" I really mean it. You may not think it is important to be "spiritual" around your house, but it is! That's where the root of your actions is forming! How you act at home and around those closest to you is how you're going to act to others. Either that, or how you act towards others if fake.
I've noticed that there are certain places we are spiritual. It is cool to be spiritual at a Christian camp, whereas it is not cool to be spiritual around certain friends. You can get rewards in some churches youth groups for being "spiritual" whereas at school you can get suspended for praying.
I hope you see what I'm rambling on about. We have to be showing God's love wherever we are and whatever we are doing.
John 15:9-17 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.
I think that just about sums it all up! So let's make that our motto: Love often, love openly, love always. (You can definitely sticky note that. I know I'm going to!)
Your Challenge:
Make a point from now until always to be showing love to everyone. Make it your personal goal to always be kind and considerate and glowing with God's love wherever you are. Let's radiate our differences because we have such a huge reason for having them!
Bonus!
By this point I'm figuring that everyone has caught on to the whole "read one Proverbs a day" thing. So I'm going to stop telling you now. If you want to read more than one, go right ahead! If you want to add on different books of the Bible, that would be great! Maybe start a reading plan of your own. I hope I helped get you started! What I have found to be the best reading plan is to pick a few chapters and stick with them until the end. I try to pick diverse ones. Like maybe one in Matthew, one in Revelation, and one in Psalms for example.
Now, let's get to burning those flames!
Aly :)
