To Be At Peace

Chieko lay peacefully, the sound of gentle rain pattering at the window, and a small fan whirring cool air over her leg that hung from the sheets. The dim glow of the moon cast a hazy light through the sheer curtains gently shifting in the breeze.
He still wasn't home. Chieko lazily flopped an arm to his spot as she awoke to an empty bed, it was still peaceful and in that calm, there was a small disappointed hum that rolled from her chest. Blearily she glanced at her phone, "3 am...."
Gently, her eyelashes began to flutter closed again. She knew he would be back soon to pull her to his tired chest. Work was hard on him. Some days were worse than others, as with all jobs, but he was a hero... A bad day for him was a bad day for the city, for families, for businesses. With so much resting on his shoulders those small moments were coveted.

Often, while out on late patrols, his mind wandered. He found himself staring at the skyline as he imagined her voice, the way her cheeks dimpled when she smiled, the shape of her body as she slept. The way the sheet fell into the curve of her hip. The way her hair fanned onto the pillow and framed her face. These thoughts were a small reprieve from the chilly nights monitoring alleys and back streets.
Soon he would be slowing down, though. He'd recently been requested to fulfill a position teaching incoming freshmen at the prestigious hero academy across town. It couldn't have come at a better time.
The night was dragging on.

Several hours later, the sound of a soft snore drifted through the room, Chieko slowly opened her eyes. As expected, there he lay, a hand twined in her dark hair.

"Shota?", she spoke softly, "I'm going to start coffee.."

He twitched and offered more small snores in response.
She sighed.
"He works entirely too hard." She thought, slowly stepping from the bed to a robe hanging nearby.
She paused by a mirror and stared for a moment. She was plain enough. Her features were a little too sharp, making her face seem perpetually serious. Her eyes were brown, their darkness melded well with her severe features. Her hair was long and brown.
She flicked a few strands from her shoulder and sighed again, "Correction: very plain."  and continued on her way to the coffee maker.
To the world, he was placid and cold-seeming. He went to great lengths to avoid the media and stay out of the limelight. Hero rankings really were of no consequence to him, she supposed.
To Chieko, though, he was the gentlest soul, who would do everything in and out of his power to see her happy.
He was the only person who'd ever trusted her wholly and implicitly. From the day they'd met he was quiet and aloof, and unbothered by her quirk. Even her own parents looked at her with distrust and wariness. How could they not?
Chieko's quirk had always put people on edge.
Her quirk, Psyche, allowed her to revisit memories and alter them slightly if she wished, with limits. It could be used to drive some mad and manipulate others. But Shota knew her heart, that was the beauty of their quirks coming together.
Even when he jokingly allowed her to use her quirk on their third or fourth date, there was no point. His heart already beat for her.
Each pulse whispered her name through his veins.

She plugged in the toaster and slid the switch down, popping in some toast and pressing the little green start button on the coffee pot.

Moments later his monotone voice reached her on the other side of the flat and dragged her from her thoughts and self hatred.
"Chieko?" His deep voice was still thick with sleep. Quickly she scooped up the coffee mugs and slapped butter on the toasts and shuffled in to greet him.

"Good morning my sleepy head!" she smiled brightly and stood holding the mugs of coffee and fresh toast, "How are you this morning!"

His eyes paused on her face, taking her in as a gentle smirk curved his lips. It made her heart flutter. He held his arms open for her and she plopped into his lap, miraculously not spilling a drop from the steaming cups.

"The same as always. Tired. I missed you, did you sleep well?" he brushed a thumb over her cheekbone, examining the circles under her eyes, looking genuinely concerned.

"Fine. I slept fine. No need to fret, Shota." She turned her face to look in the opposite direction, letting his hand fall to her lap. "I thought we could look for apartments further in the city today. It's over 2 hours to UA from here, and closer to the station for my work as well..." she trailed off knowing his answer before he even spoke.

"Oh, no. That won't do, you know how I feel about inner city. It's too unsafe." his eyes slowly sympathetically scanned hers, "and I thought we were postponing your return? Are you saying you're ready to go back to work?"

"We can't stay here, it's a one bedroom and over 2 hours commute to UA!" Chieko blurted, voice beginning to waiver under his steady gaze and unreadable features.
"And yes, it's time I go back. I can't keep taking week long hiatuses after every sad case." Her shoulders drooped a little at the mention of work.

After a long pause he huffed and took the coffees she'd been holding, "We can look but that's it. We need to take our time with this. The entry exam isn't for another 2 weeks anyways."

He put an arm around her waist and leaned to sit the coffee mugs aside. The pressure of his skin against hers brought her back from her dark thoughts and sent fire over her skin wherever their bodies met.
The heat pooled in her chest and sent a deep blush across her pale cheeks.
Shota pulled her into his lap, one hand at her hip the other twirling her hair around his index finger.

" I just don't want to chance it, seeing a hero vulnerable like this..." he gently cupped her face " is just asking for trouble."

"Please don't be angry with me?" he said flatly, not asking, but not quite telling.
"I guess." she huffed, with a breathy sigh and pushed her hips forward, grinding into his lap. She could feel him hardening beneath the sheets. She smirked and leaned her face into his hand. The heat pooling in her chest began to move lower and spread through her limbs. His touch sent jolts of electricity into her veins. He stretched forward to kiss her neck, gently nibbling and sucking, leaving a trail across her collar bone.
Slowly, he moved a hand down to the warmth between her legs and began to rub. She was already soaked for him; he could feel her slickness even through her panties.
"I can't stay mad at that face," she managed to get out, it sounded more like a moan than an intelligible sentence.
"Good girl," he whispered into her ear, and it made the hairs on her arm stand on end. His breath on her neck sent chills through her body, he went back to leisurely nibbling and teasing her collar bone. His movement sent little shivers down her spine and pulled soft moans from her lips.
"Fuck, Chieko." His voice was strained and deep. The lust was mutual.
Chieko fumbled with the sheets between them to pull them away, she was frantic in her need to be pressed to every inch of his body. She hated the sheets for separating them, in that moment when all she wanted was to be surrounded by his scent and warmth.
"Let me do it, let me help you." His voice was still strained and controlled. She could feel the need dripping from every word.
"Let me help you,"  echoed through her mind and she shivered again.
With one hand he firmly gripped her hair at the base of her scalp and pulled her head back, exposing her neck. His soft kisses along her collar bone transitioned to rougher needier kisses on her neck. He pulled his other hand from her waist and slid the barely there panties she wore to the side. He bit down on the side of her soft neck as he pushed himself into her welcoming warmth. They both gasped in relief.
Chieko leaned her head back and moaned, he shifted his hips and put his arm back around her waist, pulling her closer and pressing himself deeper. Shota wanted to fill every bit of her. To consume her and never let go. Chieko leaned into his touch and rocked her hips against his. Her dark hair fell over her shoulder and he could smell her sweet cherry perfume, still lingering from the night before. It was intoxicating. He could drown in it.
He tightened his grip on her hips and shifted their bodies so that he was above her, "I want to watch you take it for me." He ground out.
He leaned closer, bracing himself on his elbows, planted a gentle kiss on her parted lips, and drove himself into her again and again.
The stubble on his face was rough against her own. It made her crave those kisses more. The scent of him filled Chieko's senses. She felt like she was suffocating in it and never wanted it to end. She ran her tongue along his lip and moaned into his kisses, she could feel his muscles stiffen with pleasure when he felt her tongue sliding along his own.  His hands trailed her body, hungry, grasping for anything they could touch.
