Separately there is a lemon ✨️

A sweet smell floated through the tiny apartment. Shota couldn't tell if it was her perfume surrounding him or the fresh cherry blossoms outside of the open window. The leaves of the trees made tiny shadows dance around the room, and sunlight glistened on her long dark hair that was splayed out like a halo around her head.
It was early yet. Chieko was deep in sleep, her head tucked under his chin. His arms were wrapped tightly around her shoulders and his hands fiddled with something small. She shifted, and peeked up at him, propping her head on his chest.
"Good morning, sleepyhead." She mumbled, "what are you up to?"

He opened his mouth to speak and then paused. His brow furrowed.

"What? What's wrong?", she sat up to look at him and rubbed her eyes.

"Nothing...I just..." he paused again. Not sure of what to say he blinked slowly and cupped her hand in his, opening her palm and in it placed a small ring.
Chieko stared down at it with her mouth wide open.

"Well?", he asked, still cupping her hand. His monotone voice cut the awkward silence.
She closed her fist around the ring and collapsed on his chest in tears.
He tilted his head down to look at her, confused.
"Of course, yes, the answer to that question will always be yes!" Her sniffles muffled her words against his chest.

"Oh don't...don't do that—" he gently lifted her head and wiped a few tears away.
He lifted her hand again to slide the ring on, and she laid back to stare at her newly adorned finger. It was simple, one stone and a silver band.
"Perfect." She whispered to no one in particular.
Chieko glanced at Shouta and he pulled her up, face to face, and slowly leaned in to press his lips to hers

"So soft..." he mumbled into her mouth.
His tongue traced her lips and found her tongue. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed his body to hers.
Her hands roamed his body; over his chest, down his arms, up to his long hair, and back down to his hips. Chieko pushed her hips against his. She could feel him getting harder beneath his clothes.
She pushed his boxers down and began to stroke him leisurely. His hand found her breasts while the other ran down her back and grasped her thigh. He let out a small moan into their kisses as she tightened her grip and stroked him faster.
He used his knee to push her legs apart. He slowly dragged his finger down from her breast, over her stomach, further until they found warmth. He made circles around her clit. Shota smirked when she stopped stroking his length to arch her back and grip the sheets. He leaned in to nibble her neck as he continued rubbing and circling her sensitive clit.

"Please, I need you," she begged through a  moan.
He smiled and pulled her body underneath his. One arm gripped the headboard above her head, and the other held tightly onto her hip.
Slowly, he thrust into her. Her body shuddered and arched up to press against his. Her moans filled the room, and he moved his face to her neck and bit the soft part where her shoulder met her neck. He twined his hands in her hair, and thrust his hips harder, as though he could compress their bodies to be closer. He wanted to fill her senses, so much so that he was all she could perceive. All she could hear or see, or taste. His voice was rough as he moaned her name and leaned his head close to her ear, breathlessly "I love you..."

Shota jolted upright. Just a dream.

Just a dream.
He shook his head, trying to clear the fog of exhaustion. His eyes were even more bloodshot than usual, he hadn't slept in days.
"I love you..." He shook his head again. The memory of her haunted him.
He had fallen asleep in the chief of police's office. How long had he been here? He closed his eyes.
The memory of her was all around him, her hair falling over her shoulder as she turned to look at him. Her lips curved up into a smile.
Shota felt a slight breeze shift into the room and caught the faint scent of cherry blossoms. They fluttered everywhere this time of year. The smell made his chest tighten.
She could be anywhere, she could be hurt, waiting for him. Or worse, and more likely, she could be dead. Yet he was here. Doing nothing. No leads, no evidence, and no clue what do to.
Slowly, he turned his head to look around the office and stood to leave just as the office door eased open. Chief Kenji stepped in holding paper cups of coffee.

"Oh! You're up! I thought I'd let you rest. I know you don't sleep much but...here, I brought coffee. Black, right?" His eyes were soft, and he wouldn't make eye contact. He seemed a little uncomfortable like he wasn't sure how to navigate the situation.
"You called out for her, I thought I should give you some time." Kenji bowed his head slightly, and the silence stretched between them awkwardly.

Shota sighed and opened his mouth to apologize but noticed a folder tucked under Kenji's arm. Shota could make out Chieko's handwriting "Tatsuo"

                  ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Darkness flooded in, and Chieko's head throbbed. She could feel something sticky and thick caked on her forehead.
"Blood."  She thought hazily.
Her vision faded in and out. It was dark but a low red light occasionally glowed in her face. She was so dizzy. Her hands were bound and felt numb.
"How long have I been out..."  she considered, while trying to shuffle upright and slow her spinning head.
She tried to lift herself to sit, only to find the roof was much closer than she thought and she flopped back against the surface she sat on.
A loud bang halted her fuzzy thoughts. Suddenly the space she was trapped in was moving.
"A car? How the hell?" Chieko mumbled to herself and shifted her body as much as she could to position herself. She steadied herself, her head still swam, and slammed the heels of her feet into the corner of the trunk. A loud crack sounded and she paused waiting for the driver to continue without noticing the noise. Nothing. Again she kicked even harder. With another loud snap, the tail light popped out of its hole and dangled outside of the car by its wiring.

It was dark out. They weren't on the busy side of town anymore.
"How long have we been driving? I don't know this street..." She tried as hard as she could to focus her eyes, to pin any detail down, but blackness kept trying to creep back in. The exertion from kicking made her head pound painfully and her vision fuzzy. It was night outside, and the car was moving too quickly to catch any important details. Not that she recognized anything anyways.
The car abruptly halted sliding her back into the wall of the trunk.
A gasp escaped her lips when her head smacked the wall. Chieko could feel fresh blood trickling from her head.

The edges of her vision began to fade back to black, she could feel her head begin to roll with the motion of the car, her body going limp again.
