"Riiing!" The monotone bell rang out, alerting the students that first lunch had begun. SIghing with relief, I stopped writing and threw my pencil into my open bookbag and flipped my history test over. Grabbing my bag I stood and pushed my chair in.
I looked over at Kami's desk and felt a sad tug at my heart She hadn't come to school in a few days. No phone calls answered and no texts. I hope everything is going okay with her. I sighed, picking up my test and walking up to the teacher. He looked up from a stack of papers and smiled polietly, taking it from my hands and looked back down. Leaving the room, I made my way down the crowded hall.
I made my way over to my locker and spun the dial, unlocking it. The stream of student passed by without taking a notice of my departure from the crowd. Putting in my history book and a few notebooks, I look up and see Malik standing a few feet away from me, his tall frame bending to drink from a water fountain.
His eyes were closed, hiding his beautiful blue eyes. His dark brown hair, tumbled forward on his forehead. His lips were puckered to catch the water. I paused in my locker just to stare at him. He was so good looking. It hit me like a punch, knocking the wind out of me. Every time.
He leaned forward more and his nose hit the stream of water. He must have breathed in at that moment too, because he backed up, choking on the intake of water in his nose. He started to cough, wiping at his nose. With his face scunched up like that, wiping at it, he looked just like a kitten wiping at his nose. I snorted and started to giggle. It was too adorable.
He looked up at me, looking me in the eye. A ripple of shock ran through me as we made eye contact. Shit! I must have made a sound. I covered my mouth with my hand and looked back into my locker. My heart was beating a mile a minute. Embarrassed I was caught staring at him, I quickly took out my books necessary for next hour and slammed it closed. Hurrying down the hall away from the direction Malik was, I moved back into the flow of students, headed to the lunch room.
What is wrong with me? I took deep breaths to calm my heart. Fast beating heart? Beause a boy looked at me?
I huffed. Who am I kidding? I know why. I obviously feel something for him. Maybe even like him? But what does it matter if he doesn't like me back? My spirits plumpted. No matter how I feel, if he doesn't feel it back, none of it would matter.
".... Can't have you missing class, huh? The one thing I look forward to on my days at school."
I looked behind me down the hall, to see if Malik was looking at me. I made eye contact with deep blue eyes. I felt another sensation of someting sweet go through me. He cocked his head to the side and smiled slowly at me. I looked down and turned round, going around the nearest corner. I kept walking with my head down. Hoping no one could see the stupid grin on my face.
:No Edits: Sorry it's so short! I just needed to get this in there some time >_>
