*Author Note*: Thought it would be fun to rewrite the first chapter a bit... differently. So here ya go! Hope you enjoy this little break from the story!

I was walking on a beach when he appeared out of no where.
He stood still, I hadn’t noticed him at all until I was a couple of feet away. He continued to stare at the ocean as if he hadn’t noticed me at all. He was tall, with brown hair, brushing across his forehead. I stopped and stared at him. I must have made a sound because he turned and looked at me. I gasped.
His eyes were a bright sapphire blue. They captivated me instantly. The color stood out so much, I wondered if they were even real. They had to be contacts.
He smiled and walked over to me with long strides. I felt that I should have backed up and not get close to him. I don't know this guy. My mind was screaming at my body to move. But I couldn't do anything but watch him get closer and closer.
I looked up at him when he stopped directly in front of me. He was so tall, his head blocked out my sun. I stood there in his shadow, looking up at his eyes. They were beautiful, mesmerizing even. I couldn’t look away.
The guy reached a hand out and grabbed my arm. He pulled me close to him our chests bumping against each other. He then wrapped his other arm around my waist, securing me in place. All during this, he didn’t look away, but kept his gaze with mine. I could have moved but I didn't feel the urge to. Something in his eyes made me not want to move. I felt something flutter in my stomach and started to breathe funny.
A warm feeling coming up my arm where he holding me there. It also came from his arm around me waist and his chest. At first it felt just like a normal warmth but then it started to get warmer.
It got hotter and hotter and I started to breathe a little harder. I looked down at his hand around my arm. He had a good grip and I wondered if he felt it too. It didn’t burn to the point of pain. It was pleasant. I looked back at his eyes, right as he leaned down and kissed my neck.
The warm feeling then turned into a full fire inside me. It felt like I couldn't get any air into my lungs as a breathed harder and harder. My heart was beating fast in my chest. It felt as if the fire had spread through my veins and filled me with good feelings. I would have wondered if he felt it too if I wasn't so focused on the rising temperature of my body.
I leaned my head against his chest as I tried to get my breath back. He continued to kiss my neck, seeming oblivious to all that was going on with me. I wanted to shove him away, to get rid of it. But I wanted to pull him closer, to feel the heat even more. My body fell limp in his arms. My knees were so weak, it took all I had to stay standing. I had no objections.
He lifted his face from my neck, separating his lips from the skin. Letting my arm go, he reached up and lifted my chin to look at him. My eyes looked at him in wonder. He smiled down at me and cocked his head to the side and opened his mouth to talk.
But words didn’t come out. Out of his mouth, came the sound of a distant siren. My eyebrows furrowed. It sounded like a fire truck siren. Why was it coming from his mouth. I looked into his mouth and didn’t see anything different from anyone else’s. I looked back up into his eyes and jumped in surprise. His blue eyes were changing colors. Instead of the brilliant blue it was before, it morphed into a yellowish-bronze. Watching in fascination, the bronze turned to orange and then red. As his eye color changed, so did his expression.
Gone was the happy smile and in it’s place was a sneer. A sneer of evil. A sneer so ugly it brought down his eyebrows and exposed the wrinkles in his face. Having had gotten used to the heat, I hadn’t noticed the spike in the temperature. It grew hotter, hot enough to hurt. My skin was burning where it touched his. My face scrunched up in pain and shook my head free of his hand. I tried to yank away from him but the man’s gripped tightened further, not leaving me any leeway to escape. I looked up at him helplessly and then down at my body.
His arm had returned to gripping my arm and where he touched me, the skin was turning pink and shiny, the start of a 2nd degree burn. The pain shot through me in waves and it became unbearable. I screamed in agony and begged him to let me go. He didn’t react to my cries and just continued to look at me in disinterest. Tears fell from my eyes as I felt the burns on my body get worse and the skin frying on my bones. The man finally moved his arm away from mine and I screeched. Looking down at it, my wide eyes looked in horror. Covering the palm of his hand was the flesh from my forearm. I could see the bone and red meat surrounding it.
My body thrashed and fought in his arms, trying escape. The heat was killing me. It felt like I was on fire. I screamed and screamed without end. My throat felt raw as if the heat had burned it too. I screamed until nothing came out, just hoarse breaths. I looked up at him, weak from fighting. Seeing past my vision of pain, I noticed something in his eyes had changed. He now looked down at me with pity, as if I were a dog with a broken foot. Suddenly, he let go of me and I fell to the ground. As I hit the ground, the world around me seemed to disappear and I closed my eyes.
I woke up just in time to see the flames that surrounded me and ceiling collapse on me.
