Chapter TWO "ATHENA’S CALL TO ADVENTURE"

12th Station, Kariva’s Residence

Athena Kariva instantly stood after hearing the Minister’s address. She had waited for this day to come. This is her call and she had already made up her mind. She’ll join the conquest.

"Athena where are you going?" her mother asked her.

"The SiteHouse. I’m going to join the conquest," she answered.

"Athena are you out of your mind?! That’s suicidal! The conquest is not for women."

"No gender is required, mother. And I don’t care. It’s our only chance to live. Do you not feel it? The Ministry hasn’t said anything about it, but the end is nearing! It’s clearer than the State’s glass building. The world is dying mother. I don’t want to die with it," she said before finally leaving the house.

12th station is the grandest station for Athena. It’s her hometown and it is the home of technology. Technology is the main source of living in 12. It’s everybody’s business.

Tunnels, high-tech buildings, robots, and flying cars are very abundant and normal in 12. And almost everybody knows everybody.

Athena went to the driving pane and waited for a public vehicle to land. Private vehicles are usually the ones who use the tunnels while the public vehicles (a taxi, for example) are those who use the sky-way. This is their way of preventing Traffic which is a big problem in the old days.

Finally, Athena saw the exact bus she needed to get to the SiteHouse - The SiteBus. Passengers instantly scrambled out of the bus once it landed on the lane. Once empty, new set of passengers gets in, Athena is one of them.

The SiteBus looks like a normal bus from the outside. But once you get inside, you’ll instantly face a long hallway with room doors at the sides. These rooms are where you get seated. It’s like a train. But trains nowadays are considered extinct.

It only takes a few minutes for the bus to arrive at its destination (hey, there’s no traffic in the air). It landed right in front of the SiteHouse’s automatic gate.

The SiteHouse is where the Stationers of 12 come to inquire something from the government. In here, they release papers, personal data, and other stuffs that involved an individual’s needs.

Before entering the gate, each stationer must present a figure first. It’s like an ID that would prove that you are a member of the 12th station.

"Hello Athena," Mrs. Smears, one of the employees of the SiteHouse, greeted her as she passed.

"Hi Mrs. Smears! Can I ask a question?"

"Sure darling. What is it?" the old woman asked.
