Chapter FIVE "A FRIEND OR A FOE?"

After resting for only a few minutes, Athena and Urikynn continued their journey to the labyrinth again.

The labyrinth is indeed full of traps. There were times when the hallway turns very dark and there were also times where some turns were blasting with lights. There is also one turn where the walls were full of holes that automatically shoot spikes to whoever passes through it. Fortunately, Athena and Urikynn were both good in ducking and side-stepping at the most perfect time. So they managed to pass that one.

Both Athena and Urikynn passed different but overused traps like a huge axe swinging over their heads, a net trying to capture the conquerors, threads that turned deadly once touched, and other more.

They were both exhausted but still moving forward when Urikynn suddenly pulled her back and signaled her to shut up. They both heard a voice, a female voice that seemed like talking to herself. The owner of the voice is moving towards their directions.

Athena tightened her grip in her dagger. Sooner, the female conqueror was met with two daggers pointing at her chest and head.

"Whoa, whoa, hold it there!" she shrieked in pure surprised as she raised her hands in surrender, eyeing the two dangerous daggers.

Athena looked at the conqueror and instantly lowered her dagger when she realized who it is.

"Kateen?"

"Athena? Oh, thank goodness it was you!" Kateen said in all her cheerfulness.

"You know her?" Urikynn asked Athena and she nodded. He lowered his dagger.

"Wait a minute… I know you!" Kateen said as she looked at Urikynn, then she turned to Athena. "Where’s Mart?"

"It’s a long story. Where’s your companion? And why are you wandering alone?" Athena asked her.

"He’s gone. He was trapped between two walls when the labyrinth suddenly decided to change. It crushed him dead. I even barely escaped!" Kateen said, showing her ragged attire. "I’m lost and I can’t find anyone. You’re the first one I luckily bumped into."

Their heads snapped towards the right hallway when they suddenly heard some metal hinges. They decided to book it.

As the three of them ran from turns to turns, Athena and Kateen talked while Urikynn decided to be alert and sensible of traps. There were times when he needs to pull the two ladies just to prevent them from getting into trouble. The two seemed to be too preoccupied in their conversation.

There was one turn when the three of them stopped to take a rest. It was an empty hallway; no traps – just a plain metallic hallway. Urikynn used the time to scroll his own access bracelet, looking for things that might be helpful for them.

Athena was surprised when Kateen suddenly grabbed her dagger and pointed it in her head-level.
