Chapter 1
"WAKE UP!"
I jolted awake at the voice screaming in my ear and fell sideways out the bed with a loud thud, I felt my back make impact with the ground and I groaned in pain.
Mandy was going to die.
That was until male laughter sounded from the other side of the bed that was not my auntie's, I sat up and glared at the culprit who was lying on my bed laughing his ass off.
Change of plan, Jake was going to die.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I demanded while trying to get untangled from my gloriously soft and cosy duvet.
Jake, who is unfortunately my best friend, stuck his hands behind his head, crossed his ankles and got comfortable on my bed. MY BED!
"You're a little slow this morning," he said still laughing, I just glared, how dare he make me fall out of my god damn bed and make himself comfortable... but then something clicked inside my head.
Shit.
I ran to the bathroom and slammed the door shut, his laugh following me all the way there.
"You got there eventually," I heard him shout and he was right, today was my first day of Junior year and I forgot. I mean really, who forgets that?
I stripped off my boxers, and took the quickest shower I have ever had. If Jake is ready and here it means I'm running a little late.
Why did Mandy not wake me up? Silly woman is probably baking.
I wrapped a towel around my waist and dashed into my bedroom, Jake opened one eye lazily from where he was lying and then shut it again, unaffected by my mad rush.
I opened my drawer to get a plain white v-neck t-shirt out then grabbed a pair of jeans and also boxers and socks and dashed back into the bathroom. I chucked everything on and towel dried my blonde hair and fiddled with it until it was sitting nicely, slightly sticking up but fluffly. I quietly went back into my bedroom to see Jake still with his eyes closed. As quietly as I could I made my way to the bed and gave him a hard push.
He yelped as he fell off, and I dashed to my bedroom door picking up a grey hoodie on the way.
"KAI!" he yelled as he ran after me, I flipped him off as I continued through the living room to the kitchen and dining room.
"PAYBACK BITCH!" I yelled back and skidded to a stop at the fridge where Mandy left a note attached with a magnet.
'Away to work early, left the door open for Jake, have fun on your first day back!'
I felt something hard hit my back and whirled round to see an orange on the ground, I looked up and saw Jake standing by the fruit bowl on the counter and I gaped.
"You have probably bruised that poor orange, how dare you!"
He burst out laughing and I grinned, grabbing the orange and throwing it back.
We quickly ate a bowl of cereal and I grabbed my gymnast bag that Mandy so kindly left on the table, I smiled knowing I would be lost without her, ever since dad died nine years ago in a car crash Mandy moved in because she knew that I wanted to stay in this house, it held so many precious memories I didn't want to forget. She sacrificed a lot for me and I was so grateful for it.
Grabbing the bag and slipping on my white high tops I booted Jake out the front door before he tried to find the tin where Mandy stored her homemade bakes. Seriously the woman was always baking. She's obsessed.
