I opened the door, and there was Kieran, wearing a light blue dress shirt, and black dress pants.
"M'a lady." He said, and handed me a bouquet lf roses.
I laughed softly.
"Thank you, these are beautiful."
I invited him in, and went into the kitchen to get a vase.
"So, is it just you living here?"
"Oh um, no. I live with my older brother. He's uh.. Not home right now."
I decided I didn't want to tell him about my brother yet.
"Oh nice."
"Yeah, so uh, ready to go?"
He nodded, he opened the door for me on the way out. Since he was 17, he was able to drive too. We got to the restaurant called "Applebees." I'd been a few times before. We talked for a good half and hour before our food came. I got a nice spaghetti, and Kieran got a chicken ceasar salad. While I was eating, I couldn't help but gaze into his eyes. They were a compelling shade of blue. A pale blue. I felt a vibration on my leg that stopped me from staring into his eyes. Probably a good thing. It was my phone, I got a text from Lukas. I flinched thinking it was something bad. I put my fork down, and opened the text.
*Was looking through my phone, and found this.*
There was a picture attached. I opened it, it was a picture of Lukas and I when I was about 2, and he was 8. He was giving me a piggy back ride. That picture made me happy. Seeing us together, and Lukas healthy. I really missed those days. It made me think about Lukas and everything going on. I felt a tear run down my cheek.
"Raelynn? What's wrong?"
He was looking at me in a sinceare way.
"Oh um... It's um, nothing. It's fine."
I said whiping my cheek. He glanced at my phone, and saw the picture of of Lukas and I.
"Who's that?" He asked worried.
I whiped another tear from my cheek.
"That's me and my brother when we were kids."
He looked at me kind of confused.
"Did something happen to him?" I looked down at my feet and whiped another tear. He gently lifted my hand, and placed it on his.
"Hey, you can tell me. It's ok."
I looked into his eyes, then swallowed hard. I figured he deserved to know.
"My brother has cancer."
