He looked really shocked.
"Look, I know you probably have questions.. Like why didn't I tell you earlier. I promise I'll answer questions, just, take it easy ok?"
He nodded and slightly smiled.
"So, how long has he been sick?"
"He's been sick for about a month, he just got diagnosed today though."
"What kind of cancer is it?"
"Leukimia."
"Are your parents dowm there with him right now?"
Great, now I get to explain my whole life story to him..
"Um no.. Actually I haven't seen my parents since I was 3 years old. They abandoned my brother and I."
He ran his hand through his hair looking really stressed.
"I'm so sorry, I feel terrible for bringing that up."
"Oh don't worry about it. It's not too hard for me to talk about."
"If you don't mind me asking, how old is your brother?"
"He's 22."
"So he was eight when they left you guys."
"That's right."
"So he's pretty much been for of a dad to you than your own?"
"Yep, he's the strongest person I know. I don't know where I'd be without him."
He bowed his head down, kind of half smiling.
"You ok?"
"Yeah, I just never realized your life was so shitty." I kind of laughed, I didn't think it was shitty, I just thought it was different.
"Yeah.. You kind of get used to it though."
"Hey, do you wanna go see your brother?"
"Oh.. We don't have to.. I know some people can't stand being in hospitals, so yo-"
"No, Raelynn. I want too"
Then he placed my other hand on his, so both of mine were on top of both of his. I couldn't help but smiling really big.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'd love to meet him."
