“So. We need to go back to Resembool to get ourselves fixed up.”
“What about Al?” you ask him.
“I’m the only one who can do the transmutation, so I need to fix my arm first. What about you? Why didn’t you tell us you had automail?” Ed asks.
You scratch the back of your head. “I didn’t think it mattered that much. Um..my arm is also automail, just so you know.”
“Oh. So, if you don’t mind me asking, what happened to you?” he asks.
“I learned alchemy with my little sister. We would always practice together. We weren’t just sisters, we were also best friends. I really depended on her. But there was a car accident. My family and I were crossing a highway, and a speeding truck was headed our way. In the last second, my parents tossed us aside and took the hit. A while later, my sister passed away too. I felt like couldn’t live without my family. So... Well, you know the rest.” you said.
“So..you saw it? The truth?” asked Ed.
“...Yes. I did.” You give him a small smile. “Then I met Colonel Hughes. He introduced me to Flamebrain and everyone else."
He smiled. “I want to spar with you sometime.”
“Bring it on!” you cheered.
You both laughed.
“Hmm… Think this engineer of yours would be willing to make me a leg? It kinda broke.”
“You don’t say.”
The two of you and Major Armstrong boarded the train.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
“Major Armstrong, you said Al was on board. Where is he?” asked Ed.
“I thought he might get lonely, so I put him in the back with the sheep.”
“MY BROTHER ISN”T SOME KIND OF FARM ANIMAL!!”
You laughed.
When you finally reached the station, Ed was asleep on your shoulder, snoring lightly. He looks so cute and peaceful when he sleeps.. You shake him gently. “Ed. Wake up. We’re here.” He opened his eyes “What?” “I said we’re here.” you repeated. He realized that he had been leaning on your shoulder and jumped back. “Oh, sorry about that.” “It’s okay. You were tired.” you replied, grinning. You then realized something. “Hey. How will I get off the train? We didn’t bring crutches or anything!” You began to freak out slightly.
In response, the major being himself, picked you up bridal style. You and Ed sweatdropped. “Uh….Thanks major.” you said.
As you were getting off at a stop, the major waved to someone. “Hello Dr. Marcoh!”
The man looked back, gasped and ran away.
“Wait!” the major called. He ran after him, still holding you, which wasn’t very fun.
You three reached a small town, but had lost sight of the man. “Major, who was that?” you asked.
“His name is Dr. Marcoh. He was an ally in the Isbal Civil war. And he possesses a Philosopher’s Stone.
Ed and Al looked at each other. “Let’s go.” I said.
“The major tapped someone. “Excuse me, but do you know where Dr. Marcoh is?”
“Oh. You must be talking about Dr. Mauro.” “Mauro?” “He’s our only doctor. He’s amazing, and he never gives up on anyone! He lives over there.” they said, pointing.
You reach the place and knock on the door. The man opens it, and points a gun at the major. “I won’t go back! You can’t take me!”
“Calm down Marcoh. I won’t take you anywhere!”
He calms down a bit. Once you are all settled down, he asks. “Why are you here?”
“We want to know about the Philosopher’s Stone.” says Ed.
The man stands up, knocking his chair over. “No! That’s the devil’s research! It should be burned!”
“Will you tell us what we want to know or not?!” asked Ed.
“No! You’ll go through hell!”
Ed slammed his hands on the table.
“We’ve already been through hell!”
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
At the station, Major Armstrong asks the boys. “You know you could have forced him into it.”
Ed and Al look down. “Yeah, but..” Ed starts.
“It wasn’t worth ridding the town of their only doctor.” finished Al.
You smiled. “You did the right thing.” you assure them.
“Hey! Wait!”
You turn around. “Dr. Marc- er.. Mauro?” you ask.
“Here. You can find all my notes here. Maybe you’ll find the truth within the truth.” He says, handing Ed a slip of paper.
“The first branch of the Central Library, huh? Let’s go.” said Ed.
You board the train.
