You reach a house. It seems familiar, but you’re not sure why.

At that moment, the door opened. A blonde, blue eyed girl and an elderly lady stood there. “Winry? Mrs. Pinako?” you ask, completely confused by this point. “Hi, Y/N. Good to see you!” Winry said. “Hello. Why Ed, it’s been a while. You’ve gone and grown smaller.” said Mrs. Pinako. Ed flipped out. “You’re supposed to tell me how big i’ve gotten!” “Why would I say something that’s obviously not true?!” she asked. You laughed, along with Winry. “You sure have changed, huh?” you say. She laughs. “Same goes for you.” The two of you talk for a while about random things, automail, goings on, whatever. Ed just stares at you two with a dumbfounded expression. “How do you know each other?” he asks. “Oh. Winry is the one who gave me my first automail!” you say. “Her skills have really improved, I see!” “Eh? When did that happen?” he asks. Winry smacks him with her wrench. “I meant when you met! Not when your skills improved!” he screeches. “Uh.. Winry, was it 4 years ago?” “Yeah, I think so.” Ed grinned. “Great. So, you know each other.”

You went inside and settled down. “So, how long will it take?” asked Ed. “Well, you gonna need to wait for three days for your arm. And it’s not just the arm. The leg needs adjusting too. You’ve grown out of it.” “See! I have grown!” Ed exclaimed. “No you haven’t.” you told him. He glared.  “So, what about me?” you ask. “Well, we have to build your leg from scratch. You blew it apart, plus you grew out of it. It’ll take about the same time as Ed’s arm.” You grinned. “Until then, you both have to make do with these spares.” said Winry, attaching them. You stood up, wobbling. “It’s hard to walk on a leg i’m not used to.” you said. “We’ll be done before you get used to it.” said Winry.

The next three days passed in a blur. At least to you. Ed constantly went to ask Winry if she was done.

Finally, you got your leg. You did a ton of random flips and handsprings and whatnot over the grass, delighted with your new leg. Ed had transmuted Al’s armor back. “Let us leave for Central!” declared the major. You said your goodbyes and left.

(At Central)

“It’s….gone…” said Ed in disbelief.

We looked in horror at the charred remains of the first branch.

(Later)

“So, it burned down, huh?” said the colonel.

“Yeah. Looks like they got there first.” you groaned.

“Oh. One other thing. Major, we need you here, so Sergeant Brosh and Second Lieutenant Maria Ross will be your bodyguards.” added the colonel.

“Bodyguards? Could be fun..” said Ed, a smirk on his face.

You roll your eyes. “I’ll make sure he doesn’t do anything. Relax, Flamebrain.”

Outside, you meet a man with blonde hair and a woman with short, black hair. “Sergeant Brosh and 2nd Lieutenant Ross reporting for duty, sir!” they chorused. You grin. “Hi. I’m Y/N. Nice to meet you.” “I’m Alphonse Elric.” Al said. “Wait. So the fullmetal alchemist is that runt?” asked Brosh. “DON’T CALL ME LITTLE!!!” screamed Ed, Al holding him back.

(time skip)

“So, there’s a girl named Sheska who may know something?” you ask, just to clear things up.

“Yes. Supposedly she lives here.” replies Ross.

You opened the door and everybody’s jaws unhinged.

Books.

Everywhere.

You all tried to navigate through the huge stacks. “Miss Sheska? Are you home? Miss Sheska!” you call. Suddenly you hear Alphonse shout. “Ah! There’s someone under here!!” You all panicked and began to dig furiously, uncovering a young woman. She bowed repeatedly, over and over. “Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! I thought I would suffocate!” You all sweatdropped. “Uh.. So. You used to work at the library, correct?” you asked, anxious to move things on. “Oh, yes.” Suddenly, it turned into a overdramatized sob story. When she was done, you all stared at her. “Right..” said Ed. “But unfortunately, it’s all gone now..” She looked up. “Oh! Did you want something?” You nodded. “Yeah..we wanted the copy of Tim Marcoh’s notes.” She tapped her chin thoughtfully. “Well, if it’s any help, I remember all the notes word for word.” she stated calmly. Everyone fell over anime style. “WHAT?!?!!” She nodded. “I remember everything i’ve ever read. I could recopy them for you.” she told you. Ed scratched the back of his head in wonder. “I guess there really are some amazing people in this world, huh, Al?” Sheska blushed. “Oh, it’s nothing.” Just then, the door flew open. “Yo! I heard you guys were doing some reasearch!”

Standing there was your favorite person in the whole world. “Hughes!” You cheered, jumping into his arms and letting him spin you around. “Hey there, Y/N!” he laughed, rubbing your head affectionately. Everyone kinda stared. “So, you two know each other?” Ed asked. Hughes smiled. “So, have you found anything?” Ed nodded. “Yeah, we have.” you cut in. “Good for you. My department is in a real fix right now. All the case records were in the first branch, and now they’re nothing but ashes now.” he sighed, leaning back. Edward and you looked at each other. “Hey Hughes..” Ed started. “How would you like to know that this extraordinary person here has all of them memorized?” you finished. Hughes’s face lit up like a candle. “Yes! Don’t worry, my office pays well. You’ll be fine. No need to worry about your stuff.” he said, dragging Sheska out of the room, anime tears flowing from her eyes. Everyone sweatdrops but you. “Ah, that’s Hughes!” you said, like this was totally normal. “He’s acting like a kidnapper.” Ed muttered.

(A few days later)

“Here they are! Word for word!” Sheska announced, gesturing at the huge piles of paper.

“Are you sure these are Marcoh’s notes?” asked Brosh.

“Oh yes! Letter by letter, Tim Marcoh’s 100 easy recipes!” she said.

Everyone but the Elrics and you groaned.

“Sheska, you sure these are copied down exactly?” Ed asked.

“Yes! Positive!” Sheska stammered.

“Ok then. Thanks, Sheska!” Ed called. She smiled, bowed and left. Ed turned to explain. “Alchemists always have their notes written in such heavily encrypted code that only they can read it!” he said. Maria Ross raised an eyebrow. “Well, if it’s so heavily encrypted, how will you decipher it?” she asked. “We’ll just have to work really hard.” you said.
