(10 days later)
“Damn it!” Ed’s voice shouted.
A series of loud thuds and clangs could be heard from inside.
Maria Ross and Sergeant Brosh rushed into the room.
“Is everything all right sir?” Brosh asked.
“Calm down. You’ll crack it eventually.” said Ross.
“It’s not that..” you murmured, head on knees. “We did crack it…”
“Really? That’s great!” said Brosh.
“There’s nothing great about it!” yelled Edward, sending yet another chair flying.
He put his face in his hands, pacing. “Do you know what the main ingredient for a philosophers stone is?”
“What?” they asked.
He paused and looked up, agony in his eyes.
“Live humans.”
He resumed his pacing. “Not only that, but it takes countless lives to make just one stone!” he shouted.
The two adults looked on in worry. You got up and placed a hand on his shoulder. “Ed. Calm down. If the Philosopher’s Stone isn’t it, there’s another way. I know it.” you said, trying to sound reassuring. He didn’t seem to have taken much comfort in your words, but at least he had stopped pacing. “Hey! Brother, look at this!” Al cried.
“What is it?” Ed asked.
“If someone- or something has been creating philosophers stones behind our back, and we didn’t know it, who could be capable of such a thing?”
Before Ed even tried to answer, you cut in. “The military.”
Maria Ross nodded. “And here.” she said, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. “This lab has been out for awhile.” Ed shook his head no.
“Look here. This lab is abandoned. And see? There’s a prison next to it.” he gestured
“Why is that important?” asked Ross.
You turn. “Because there’ll be plenty of convicted criminals that were “executed”.”
The two’s eyes widened. “You think they’re using convicted criminals to make a philosophers stone?!”
Ed nods. “Let’s check it out.”
“But sir-”
“No arguments.” you said.
(Later outside)
“Ah! Major Armstrong, sir!” the two soldiers said, standing to attention.
“What was going on in there?”
The two exchanged glances. “N-nothing sir!” Brosh said. “Hmm...muttered Armstrong. He ripped off his shirt and flexed. “Now, what were you saying?”
“Eeep! We’ll tell you!”

“Edward Elric!”
“Eh?” he looked up, only to see the major who pulled him into a shirtless, bone crushing hug. “Oh, Edward! How terribly tragic!”
He glared at the two soldiers. “Really?”
They laughed nervously. “Sorry, he forced us!” protested Ross.
The major finally put Ed down.
“I’m sorry. However, you three will not be permitted to go to the laboratory.”
“But-”
“No buts, miss Y/N. I apologize.”
With that, he left.
“You heard him. Please, try to catch some rest.” said Ross, looking at you with kind eyes.
“Fine.” mumbled Ed. The three of you trudged upstairs.
(time skip)
“Stay put? Yeah right.” said Ed, as you climbed out the window.

Ed: All right! That's me being awesome, as usual.
Me: Uh... yeah right.
