I’m in my underwear again..” he groaned.
“Hmm...I see...So you put the cylinder on this side, huh?” muttered Dominic. Winry nodded. “Hmm. It’s a bit heavy though. Could be why he’s so small?”
“HEY! WHO’RE YOU CALLING A LITTLE PIP- wait! Are you saying that if I get lighter automail I could become taller?!” Ed asked.
“It’s possible.”
“That’s it!” Winry cried. “Dominic, please make me your apprentice!”
“No.”
“Can’t you even think about it?” she pleaded.
“I don’t take apprentices.”
Ed cut in. “Forget her! Whip me up some automail that’ll make me grow taller!”
“No, you little shrimp.”
“DON”T CALL ME A SHRIMP!”
Dominic growled and went inside, leaving Ed and Winry to mope.
“Sorry about that. My dad is a little unfriendly.” laughed Ridel.
Winry and Paninya were sitting together, chatting. You went to join them.
“Oh! I still have Ed’s watch!” exclaimed Paninya. “It...won’t open!”
“Leave it to me!” you said, pulling out your lock picking kit.
You worked at it. “Dang, he used alchemy to seal it!”
Finally you popped it open.
“Never forget...October 3rd. A date?” you wondered.
Winry sniffled.
“What’s wrong?” you asked.
“Just give that back to Ed.” she said.
“One more time… I’m gonna ask Dominic to be his apprentice one more time!” she said, walking off. Suddenly, Winry came running out of the room.
“Ridel! Come quick! It’s your wife!”
“ We can’t get her to the hospital in this storm. I’ll go into town and get the doctor.” said Dominic, running out.
You all ran into the other room when Paninya came running out. “HELP! WHAT DO WE DO? ALL THIS WATER CAME POURING OUT OF SATERA! WATER!”
“That means the baby is ready to be born.” you said.
Everyone to panic. You and Winry thought it over. You grabbed Ridel’s collar and Ed’s braid. Winry got the other two.
Suddenly, Dominic came dashing back. “What’s wrong?” Ed asked, worried.
“The bridge…”
You ran outside. The bridge had completely collapsed!.
“Oh no…” said Winry.
“I’ll see what I can do.” You and Ed chorused. You looked at each other. “Let’s try a cross structure frame.”
He nodded. You both started to transmute, but stopped when you heard a crack as the edge of your bridge fell into the raging current.
“It’s no use!” Ed exclaimed.
“If we try to build supports, the water will wash them away as we transmute..” you said.
“And this gap is too large to span from one side..” he added.
“What’s the point...of being an alchemist..or human weapon..if I can’t use my powers...when I need them to most!” Ed yelled.
