Chapter 21

They had left the rubble of the border and started their journey lead by the dragon king and the new general. The soilders had learn quickly that she didn't take shit so they should just take their orders and not talk back.

They trekked through the human land for about a day before they found Kriss. She was clearly injured and intoxicated. Olivia and Lilac ran up to her and hugged her.

"Kriss, are you ok?" Lilac asked.

"I'm fine and very really drunk again," she slurred.

"Great," Weasel whispered to Deer, "Our lives ride on the drunk killing the king. We're doomed."

"Yeah we're screwed if ou-" Liz was interrupted.

"Ok, so I'm drunk but I've almost killed the King twice but the first time I was betrayed and the second time I had to fight the guards off as well," Kriss told them.

"How did you hear that?" Axel asked her.

"She has good hearing," Coraline told them as she pushed them out the way.

She ran to Kriss and kissed her, wrapping her arms around her neck. Kriss melted into the kiss. They only pulled away for air.

"I missed you Coral," Kriss said with a smile.

"I've been going crazy not knowing where you were," she told her.

Coral released her from her grasp and was smiling so much.

"Your smile really can make this shitty situation seem amazing."

Olivia sighed and split them up. "Sorry to break up this Coriss moment but we have a war to win."

"Fue Valcora jujua," Kriss said.

"What does fue Valcora even mean? And jujua?" Kathryn asked.

"It means for Valcora, the dome that covers Endler and where the gods live. Also, it's where all of the places of rest are. Jujua is what you say if it's a final battle for the luck of the gods really. It's Moonfallian," Red explained. Red knew a lot about the meanings of the Moonfallian words, I mean at that point she was the Moonfallian queen.

I should mention that Red is the Goddess Of War and Battle, she is still alive and only....40. Yes we age really weirdly. I am the niece of one of the coolest goddess, after me of course. She only became the goddess of war and battle after War Of The Tainted Blood.

"We attack in the morning, we all need food, to sober up and sleep," Kriss said.

"Your the only drunk one dumbass," Lance said.

"So?" Kriss asked, " We all need to sober up."

"Lance, this is drunk Kriss we're talking to, logic doesn't work at this point," Lorence said to him.

"A war no one can ever win," Herc laughed.

"Shut it horse boy," she drunkenly giggled.

"That is a really low blow. Fuck you."

"Fuck you too."

Horse boy was an insult to him for a very good, embracing and fucked up but very good reason. I would love to tell you that story but I'd only be able to tell you small snippets.

"Stop being children for once, that's all I ask," Olivia said.

"But we're all mentally three," Kriss whined like a three year old.

Lilac looked at the sky. "The moon is almost fully up, we should sleep. Tomorrow is gonna be a long and deadly day."

"You heard the witch, get some sleep," Olivia told her army.

They all split off into groups and fell asleep, same as the children. Eliza and Alexander went for a walk.

"Hun?" James asked Olivia.

"What is it sweetheart?" Liv responded.

"If we survive this," he got on one knee, "Will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

She smiled at him. "Yes, yes, yes," she beamed as he put the ring on her. She flung her arms around him and he did the same.

"And the Winter family is growing," Kriss muttered. "Wonder if it'll grow even bigger soon."

"Lorence and Lilac are the next to marry, then Alfie and Lance and then who ever Herc falls in love with," Coraline guessed.

"Why weren't we in that list?"

"It's just really early on to get married but we will someday," Coraline promised.

That day was to come sooner than the others days.

"Lauren, when should we tell them?"

"Maybe after the baby is born, we both know your sisters will kill me if they found out."

"And make me a single mum? No, they would protect you so that wouldn't happen. Any way, Wolfie would do everything she can to make sure that Liv wouldn't lay a finger on you. Though she doesn't tell you she think of you as a brother. In her letters to us she was always praising you. Kriss went to great lengths to keep you safe and did some really shitty things."

"She never told us any of that but I'm not surprised. Timber is so secretive and says feelings make you weak."

"Yeah, she has only ever opened up to three people. If you knew what she's done she's always scared you won't like her or see her differently. I want to tell but she'd make our lives Haven, honestly she'll make our lives Haven after we tell her."

"That is if we survive the war. I mean, we lost lots of good mages at the battle of the border and now we have to storm a castle without the knowledge of the land and without the use of most spells. The odds are stacked high against us."

"Nothing has ever been easy for us, we have always had the same challenges just now on the scale of full out war. For the past month it's been the same but everything has ended well for us. Yes we lost friends and family in the war but if we don't fight we lose more friends, more family, more land and soon we are all going to be stripped of freedom. This is the only way out and we can't be scard to fight. We can't be scard to show what we stand for and that we don't take shit for any one, especially Earthers."
