"So your scared of snakes hey?" I repeated Jake
"Hate em.. I'm not the only one through, Chapo despises snakes too.." Jake explained while he looked out to the water.
"Huh...." An evil grin spreaded across my lips while I looked at the blue eyed boy. Scared of snakes huh? "Interesting.." I whispered to myself.
"What about you?" Jake asked me,
My gaze returned to him from the water, "Uhh.." should I tell him? But the spiders here are huge and it might backfire.. if I don't he'll know something's up.. I thought for a second as I looked out to the water.
The walkie-talkie saved me, "Central to Bondi, just be weary of Bluebottles because we're getting some Westerly winds." Harrison said over the radio,
I radioed in, "Copy that, is someone going to put the signs up? Because I could do it if you want."
"Nah that's okay, I'm gonna come down and put them up.." Harrison replied
"Alright.." I took my thumb off of the button on the walkie and continued to look out to the water.
It wasn't long before I had to radio in, "Bondi to Central, we have a head out by the icebergs.."
"Yeah he's pretty close to the rocks you better get in there.." Jesse replied
I jumped out of the Rhino while in the mitts of taking my shirt off,
I ripped my shirt off completely and grabbed the board from the board rack and ran into the water.
Smashing through three foot waves, I paddled as fast as I could to get to the man.
When I got to him he amedeitly grabbed my board, "You alright?" I asked as I held his arms to the board.
To tired to speak, he man just nodded in response. "Get on the board and face the front.." I said to the man while tapping on the board then pointed to the front of the board, he nodded and climbed on. But there was just one problem.. he didn't lay on the board.. he sat on the board.
The board wobbled side to side, threatening to flip. My eyes widened as I noidiced we were dangerously close to the rocks. That's not what scared me though. We were in the impact zone and there was a set that was looming behind us, "Lay on your belly! Lay on your belly!" I yelled at the man. He did what was told, but it was to late...
The wave engulfed us, making us roll off the board. I kept a tight hold of the board as we rolled in the wave, but let go of it when a hot, stinging pain was shocking my arm constantly.
I quickly resurfaced as well as the man. He wasn't to far from me, "Stay calm.." I looked down at my arm to see what the hell was stinging my arm... It was a bluebottle, two of them working together, I quickly unwrapped it from my arm.
I wasn't ready for him to grab hold of my neck, in desperation to keep him from drowning, he pushed me underwater. "Don't grab my nec-" I was cut off as he pushed me underwater and held me there.. like I was a fucking floating device.
I tried to pull his arm away from my neck but he squeezed harder and pushed me deeper into the water. I could hear my heart in my ears because of how hard he was squeezing, I was running out of air fast.
Another wave came as we got tumbled around like we were in a washing machine. Surprisingly the man didn't let go of my neck, clinging to my neck with his death grip.
My vision started to go black then red in flashes. It felt like time froze.. my heart beat growing slower, and slower. My mind flashed me back to my first day at Bondi and the fourth day when my ankle got stuck in the crack of the rocks trying to fight the waves to get some air, being to weak to even kick my legs and worse of all.. letting the water in.
I panicked a little, but tried to keep calm knowing that panicking doesn't help the situation. I tried to pry his arm off of my neck, in fear of me not making it this time. But it was no use, he wasn't gonna let go.
I heard a muffled voice from above the water, "Woah, woah, hey let go of her! Let go of her neck!" The deep voice said as he grabbed the man.
My head was a little above water, and I gasped only to be pushed down agian
"Let go!" He yelled at the man, and with that... the man finally let go. The strong arm pulled me above water, and I gasped for air, and held on the board trying to catch my breath. "You okay Vanessa?"
I looked up to see a shirtless Jake, Damn he has it going on.. I thought as I looked at all his tattoos that covered his chest, muscly biceps, and arms, then stopped at his abs, What the heck Ness! You have a boyfriend!
I quickly snapped out of it, "Yeah, yeah I think so.. you take him, and I'll go up the rocks."
"You sure?"
"Yeah I'm sure.. I've seen you guys do it a hundred times..and I need some sort of way to redeem myself.."
"Okay.." Jake responded, then paddle away with the man at almost killed me.
I saw a wave loom, I inhaled a breath of air and dove under it gracefully. I resurfaced and started swimming diagonally to the rocks.
Once I was close enough, I waited for a wave to push me onto the rocks.
A set loomed, I got ready to prepare myself. The wave lifted me up and pushed me onto the rocks, and slid me across the moss covered rocks.
The wave broke on the side of the cliff. I quickly got up, then quickly ran to the entrance steps of the boat ramp before another wave crashed against the wall of the cliffs.
When I got to the top of the steps I collapsed into my knees while I held the railing, feeling like every ounce of energy got sucked out of me, mentally and physically.
I breathed in big deep breaths, held it, and exhaled. I repeated that twice, then got up and walked back to the Beach acting as if nothing happened...but that's not what the boys saw..
