The pink filled beach was hectic around me. My thoughts kept bringing me to the question 'if she had her white shirt on how would I find her? Everything around me is pink, I can't seem to see any white.' I would eat myself with thoughts like; 'If I'm going to become a lifeguard I have to be able to find a missing kid, it's part of my job. And if I can do that then, I don't know..'I looked long and hard for a white shirt but it wasn't working everything around me still steamed a neon pink colour. But then I got an idea, "You look for her with the white shirt on and I'll look and see if she took it off."
"Okay... Amelia! Amelia vhere are you!" The mother called into the crowd.
"Amelia! Your mother is worried about you!" I heard Maxi's voice through the mega phone of the buggy in the distance. He had brought Amelia's sister with him to help with the search.

20 minutes later, ten minutes until we hand the situation over to the police.
A few minutes ago I decided to take the mother up to the tower so she could look through the binoculars and Deano was there too.
I heard mine and Deano's walkie crackle, "North rhino to Central, I think I see the daughter but I'm not sure. She's in the shallows of North corner in front of fourth ramp, it looks like she has the shirt in her hands." Jesse's voice came through.
I breathed a sigh of relief, but held my breath for the confirmation.
Deano looked through the binoculars to spot the location. He took them off, "Is that your daughter?" Deano asked the mother giving the binoculars to her.
She looked through them. "Ya, ya, vat's Amelia!" The mother said in excitement and relief.
"Bondi to Central, Yeah the mother confirms that is her daughter." I said through the walkie-talkie. "Maxi head down to North corner."
"Okay her sister and I are going to get her now," Maxi replied

Maxi brought the missing 14 year old up to the tower along with her older sister.
The mother ran out the door before Maxi even fully got to the tower. I followed along wanting to see the family reunited again.
As I went down the steps halfway the mother hugged Amelia and kissed her about a hundred times all over her face. I giggled at Amelia's displeased face at all of her mother's kisses. "Vhere did you go Amelia? I vas zo vorried about you!"
"Mama! Ich habe dir gesagt, dass ich wegen der Schilder nicht zu den Flaggen gehen werde.."
"Oh du hast mich so besorgt Bin! Aber ich bin so froh, dass es dir gut geht.." The mother said in her regular language, then hugging her daughter tightly again, she grabbed the older sister into the hug, "I'm glad zat both of you are okay.." She said hugging them both in her tight embrace. She let them go and turned to me, "Sank you for thiz, sank you for helping me find my daughter and sank you for zaving me and my oldest in ze rip zo zat ve can zee our Amelia again."
"No problem I'm just glad that your together again.." I said smiling sweetly.
She walked halfway up the steps to where I was and gave me one of her tight embraces. "No really, sank you. Vithout you ve vouldn't be here." She said when she pulled me away from her hug to look at me with glassy eyes.
Then she walked away, alive, with her two alive daughters. And you know what? I've never felt so good, my heart feeling like it was a billion times lighter, happier, knowing that I just saved a family today and that the police didn't have to make that call to the father that would have never seen what was coming until a few days later, when they found the three bodies in the water that were his two daughters and his wife. I've never.. I've never felt more alive..
If lifeguards were never here to have the job of saving lives, millions would be dead, not just the German mother and her kids..
"You good?" I snapped out of my thoughts to see Maxi in front of me.
"Yeah never better." I said, smiling.
We went down the steps that were left and went in the buggy to go South end where Ryan was waiting.
"Oh man, I've never felt so alive!" I said to Maxi as he drove. I breathed in a deep breath and exhaled.
"Yeah gotta love the feeling."
"Yeah, gotta love it." I said smiling to myself.

It's 8:30 AM, packing up time,
"We are taking the flags down! Which means the beach it closed for the remaining part of the day. If you refuse to listen, and go in the water anyways, we are not going to be here to help you if you're drowning and you are swimming at you own risk!" I shouted through the mega phone as Maxi drove down the beach while the boys put the flags and signs down.

It's one of those good days where everyone seems to listen as their was only a few joggers on the sand to get their last jog in before the sun fully sets.
So Maxi drove to the tower,
I got out the buggy before Maxi put it away, and went to get my keys from the tower.
Deano was about to lock the tower door, "Oh wait a second Deano I need to get my keys!" I said and Deano stopped himself from locking the door and turning around.
"Oh yeah sure," Deano said opening the door for me,
"Thanks" I smiled sweetly and he gave one back.
I grabbed my keys and headed out the door but Deano stopped me. "Hey you fell'n okay?" He asked lightly touching my shoulder,
"Yeah why?"
"It's just that I saw you spew this morning." Deano said with furrowing eyebrows.
"Oh yeah I'm fine, I just had a lot of lasagna last night." I said smiling with a confused look
"Huh.. okay. Well good job today."
"Thanks, we'll see ya tomorrow Dean." I said smiling as I walked away to the girls change room to change into my everyday cloths.
I came out of the change room to see Jesse waiting for me at my car.
I walked over, "You ready babe?"
"Yup" I said happily pecking my boyfriend's lips.
