"Sarah?" Lauren called out, confusion brewing in her tone. "They told us you died!"
"Now's not the time," Amy yelled while holding out her hand. "Either you let us help you or you fucking die so hurry up."
Their shocked gazes were hard to miss but their submission showed through when they firmly nodded and began helping each other.
I outstretched my free hand, trying my hardest to ignore the immediate burning sensation that shot through my body. Cold droplets fell on my arm, contrasting with the terrible heat from beneath me as it grew.
Brian hoisted Vela up and Sarah was quick to hold out her arms, easily lifting her into the hovercraft.
My eyes caught Jett's and I couldn't help the smile that made its way to my face when his hand touched mine. With all the strength I got, I backed up while the eminents pushed him higher to simplify my task.
My arms weakened, every nerve trembling within. Jett was heavy, at least to me. But the joy I felt when he stood up and grinned at me, compelled me to wrap them around his neck, pulling him down to my height.
He chuckled and allowed his arms to encircle my waist, his chest rumbling with the laughter he couldn't hold in.
See that grin? I put it there.
"Thank you, Felicity," he whispered in my ear, his arms never letting me go.
I smiled.
"Okay, break it up you two," Brandon said, rolling his eyes as he passed us and grabbed Lauren's arm, helping her into our safe haven with ease.
Jett and I broke apart only to realize everyone was already in the aircraft as the doors huffed shut, blocking our view.
The air ever so suddenly got heavy which was kinda expected considering they thought we were the enemy. Or maybe that Sarah was said to be dead but is clearly alive and hugging her younger sister as if her life depended on it.
My eyes scanned everyone and almost immediately, my eyebrows furrowed.
One presence was missing.
One single presence.
"Guys, where's Aiden?" I asked, worry rising in my voice. My eyes did a once over around the interior of the hovercraft, checking if he was there. Hoping he was there.
"He's far off," Amelia replied, grabbing all of our attention. Her gaze settled on the board she now stood in front of. "Brandon, east."
Brandon nodded, jumping back into the pilot seat, ready to redirect the machine.
Saying that this whole thing was over would be me lying to try and comfort myself.
The Hunt was far from over. Most importantly, Livelden's people will never give up so easily. Who knows, they might even be attacking Levilnor right now to avenge their leader.
