"Help, I've been turned into a parrot!" A voice rung in the silent morning air and it didn't even take me a second to think, my eyes were already wide in absolute shock.

I looked up frantically, looking for the source, nearly laughing out loud from the happiness that engulfed me.

I know that voice. Most specifically, I taught it how to talk.

The amount of joy I was feeling was consuming. My face broke out into a grin without me even being conscious of it when I noticed the little bird sitting on a fine branch.

"Oh my God!" I outstretched my arm as it flew down, "it's you," I said, the smile not leaving my face

"Oh my God!" I outstretched my arm as it flew down, "it's you," I said, the smile not leaving my face. Gizmo rubbed his beak lightly against my cheek while I reminisced the day I saved him.

Gizmo was a tiny blind, featherless birdy when I helped him. He was stuck in his fallen nest next to my house and let me tell you, he was ugly. Like, really ugly but, his bird puberty hit him like a ton of bricks after two months of being with me. And I was deeply satisfied with the results because birds without feathers are... weird. I mean, have you ever seen a baby pigeon?

"Help, I've been turned into a parrot." About that sentence... I taught him how to say it just so I could freak people out and... It didn't work. People didn't believe it because I was always there to ruin what they kinda thought was true.

Life back in the village definitely sucked, but there were some things that I now wish I could get back to. My none existent family, the auditorium, Ivy Restaurant, the woods and so many more things that I never really took the time to appreciate before.

On the other hand, life here is evenly bad but, sometimes worse. I know I'm used to being out in the wild, I know I'm used to the eminents' constant bitchiness and rudeness, I know I'm used to deaths and loss, but I'm not used to betrayal.

Just the mere thought of my best friends being out there, watching over me and knowing what I'm facing is irritating. Also, the fact that Brandon was the one who sent me here in the first place is even more irritating.

We did almost everything together. We helped each other, we cared for each other, we deeply loved one another and most importantly, we had a connection. A connection that no one could've ever broken. Our friendship was stronger than anything.

Apparently not. A voice in the back of my head reminded me of the dark truth and I sighed.

"Ow." I rubbed my cheek, giving Gizmo a nasty glare because he bit it. He always does this. It doesn't really hurt me anymore since he has done it a million times every time I seemed gloomy. It feels like a pinch and I know that. It's just, we just met after a long time and he ruined our little friendly meeting.

But... Animals will always be smarter than humans, like, take Aiden for example, with his level of arrogance and stupidity, he wouldn't even compare to one small claw of Gizmo's.

"Think you could kill me?" I heard someone mock, "I could end you all with just one shot."

My eyebrows furrowed as I tried walking quietly, following the voices until I was standing behind a tree. Gizmo sat on my shoulder while my eyes scrutinized the guy who held a gun in his hands. He was aiming it at the eminents and I squinted more so I could make out his features.

My body lazed and I felt myself relaxing involuntarily when I caught his eyes. But the gasp that escaped my mouth was not asked for, because now, not only does he see me, the eminents do too.

"Knew it," Aiden whispered underneath his breath and frowned. "You're with them."

"You're taking her back, aren't you?" Jett asked, his eyebrows drawn together.

"That's exactly what I'm gonna do, Jett. Now, be a good boy and put your weapon down or one of your friends die. I don't think you'll mind though." He smirked, reminding him of Nick.

Jett immediately broke down, losing hold of his weapon which was previously my sword and I couldn't help but feel a little bit of empathy toward him. Just a little bit because I usually killed more than one person when the battles came. It used to affect me but... I don't think it does anymore.

At the sight of them like this, I thought about interfering and helping them out. But that would mean I'd lose my only chance of getting back to safety which was a no. I think.

-They killed your family.

It was just Torryn.

-They didn't treat you well.

It was only Aiden.

-Kenric did too.

He's dead now.

Too many opinions and oppositions. My mind couldn't take it.

-Just go with him.

-Stay and help them.

-They're not worth your life.

-They-

They're not. It's over.

The rattling sound of a helicopter brought me out of my daze and I felt a hand wrap around mine. I was pulled to the ladder that fell down from the plane and froze.

He didn't waste any time to climb it while I stared at it in contemplation. I took a deep breath and steadied my hand around the step before going up the ladder.

Gizmo flew off my shoulder the second I climbed in and was met with a grinning group of people.

"You remember me, don't you?"

"Hector," I answered with a little nod, getting in my seat.

A/N Well? Was that expected when you first started reading the story? Also, were there any typos? I have trust issues with myself Lol.
