"Boy, those were two of the best looking girls I've ever seen." said Two-Bit as they were walking. "You're gross, Two-Butt." said Darla. "Aw, is little Minne Mouse jealous?" Two-Bit taunted. "No. I just don't like em in general. They're too perky and you know I have a problem with perky people."
"Eh, true." said Two-Bit as he spat something out. "What was that?" Ponyboy asked. "Marcia's number." Two-Bit replied. "Probably a phony one too. I must've been out of my mind to ask her for it."
"Yes. Yes you were, Two-But." Darla replied. They were now in front of Johnny's house to drop him off. "Yeah, a girl like that would never go out with me anyway. Where yall going?" Two-Bit asked.
"Home." Pony replied."-Whoa!" said Two-Bit as he was chasing something. Pony and Darla were laughing as he chased it. Two-Bit picked the object up. "I got a new hat!". He put on the hat. "You're crazy" Pony chuckled.
"I don't know why I gave you that busted bottle. You never would've used it." said Two-Bit, walking. Johnny started walking towards his house.
"I might've." Pony said. "Where you headed?" Darla asked. "I don't know. Maybe play a little snooker or get drunk. I'll see ya later!"
"Okay!" said Pony. "Bye!" said Darla. Two-Bit then left. There was yelling from inside the house. "I hate when my folks are fighting. Let's go to the lot." said Johnny, walking away from his house.
The three walked over to the lot in silence. The found and old car seat to sit on. Darla sat next to Pony as Johnny lit a small fire. "Why won't she talk to me?" said Pony. "It's because we're Greasers, Pone." said Johnny as he took a seat next to Darla. "It might've hurt her reputation, that's all. Don't worry about it."
"Yeah, I guess so." said Pony."Man, that was a tough car, huh?" said Johnny. "Mustangs. They're tough."
"Big time Socs, alright." said, getting up from the seat and went to the fire. "It's always the same."Darla could hear Johnny's breath get shakier. She backed off a bit to give him some space. Then he leaned over and crouched in a ball. "I can't take much more of this, guys. I'll kill myself or something. I don't know." Johnny whimpered.
"Don't talk like that, Johnnycakes. You can't kill yourself." Darla said, comforting Johnny in a hug. "I gotta do somethin'." Johnny replied in a shaky voice.Pony adjusted the seat to lean back to get a better view of the stars. "Seem like there's gotta some place without Greasers, Socs...There's gotta be someplace with just plain, ordinary people." Johnny ranted.
"It's like that out in the country." said Ponyboy. "Away from all the big towns. Out in the country."
Pony's voice faded as he fell asleep. Soon, Johnny and Darla did too.Small time skip-------------------
"Pony! Darla! Wake up!" came the voice of Johnny as Pony and Darla burst awake. "God, what time is it?" Pony asked. "I don't know. I went to sleep too." said Johnny, rubbing his eyes."
"You better get home, alright?" said Johnny. "I'm gonna stay all night here. Who'll care anyway?"
"I'll stay with you and keep ya company." said Darla, rubbing her eyes.
"Alright, if yall get cold, come on to my house." said Ponyboy, getting up.
"Yeah, all right." said Johnny.
"Okay." Darla replied."What's Darry gonna say?" Pony mumbles as he left.
Johnny snuggled up next to Darla and they both fell asleep again.Small time skip----------
All of a sudden, Johnny and Darla felt something or someone fall next to them. "What?" said Johnny. "Huh?" said Darla.
"-Come on guys! We're running away!"
Darla and Johnny got up quickly without taking a second to think and started to run.
