The belle rings as I open the door to the diner and I hear Mitch laugh in the back of the restaurant. Yeah, he was that happy. A girl a little bit older than me with pink colored hair and warm colored skin walks up to me having a wide smile on her face.
" How many people will be joining you?" She asks me.
" It's just me." I say shyly.
" That's alright. I'm sure Mitch will you, if not, I'm sure someone will come." She pauses for a second " My name's Jackie by the way." Oh Jackie! As in Mitch's girlfriend! I thought to myself. This has to be the girl!
Jackie leads me to my seat and sits down across from me. A questions that I have wondering for awhile pops in my mind, and I feel like I can ask Jackie since I kind of friends with her boyfriend.
" So." I start " You're Mitch's girlfriend right?" I ask propping my elbows on the table, and cupping my cheeks with my hands.
" Yeah. And you're Kenna. Mitch has told me about you. Sorry he was so......interrupting when you first meet him, he likes to think that he's the boss." She says, her voice quieting as the sentence goes on.
I chuckle " Yeah he seems to do that a lot." Mitch arrives at our table and sits next to Jackie and then giving her a peck on the forehead.
" Hey babe. Hey Ken Ken. How ya doin? Back so soon?" He says winning at me and I scoff.
I shrug after a minute " I just needed to get away from the house for awhile, see some other people." This answer got a raised eyebrow from Mitch and a worried look from Jackie.
" Sorry if I'm being nosy..... but can I ask what happened?" Jackie asks. I've only known Jackie for like I dunno, five minutes maybe? But I feel like I could tell her anything. Ya know that vibe from a person when you can just trust them without even knowing their name? Yeah. That. Well that's what kind of 'vibe' I'm getting from her now.
So I tell them everything, from my dad and Olivia's mom, my annoying teammates, Jayce snapping at me and him being a mystery, and the.....incident. After I was finished Mitch's eyes were becoming fogged up from tears and Jackie had an unfamiliar look in her face. Respect. Why she's giving me her respect, I have no idea.
" Ill be right back. I have something in my eye I have to get out." Mitch says getting out of his seat and fanning his face with his hand and Jackie and I just roll out eyes and laugh.
" Ya know Kenna, I would say I'm sorry that this happened to you, but I'm not. " at first when I was hearing this I felt hurt. I was like so I just told you everything that had happens and you don't care? BITCH. But then she continued talking..
" How can I be sorry when I wasn't even a part of it? I can't. But you know what I can say?"
" What?" I ask leaning forward in my seat. I'm curious on what this pink haired girls advice is.
" You are a very strong girl with a big heart, but that can also be a flaw. " she says pointing her finger at me. Mitch comes back putting an arm around his girlfriend and she just ignores him to busy giving me advice.
" How can that be a flaw?" I ask and a look of confusion appears on Mitch's face but both of us girls ignore it.
" Sometimes you're to kind hearted. Forgiving people - except for a selected few- easily or being affected by something that really shouldn't matter but it does. It does for some reason and that's what you have to figure that out. Until then, you won't be able to move on with your life."
I think about what she has said for a moment. Do I forgive people easily? I like to think I don't. At least that's what I thought.
I'm not sure who she is really talking about and I guess it showed on my face because Jackie just sighs and looks at her boyfriend and then back at me.
" Look. You need to talk to Jayce. Actually don't just talk to him, confront him. If he really is your friend than you shouldn't be hurt like this right?"
" Or." Mitch starts.
" Or what?"
" Could it be that you don't like him as a friend, but something else? I believe that that boy Jayce has fallen in love with you."
