" The woods? There is no way I am going in there after you kidnapped me." I state.
We stand in front of a thick forest filled with who knows what. I shiver when a slight breeze hits my skin. Out of all the places Jayce could've brought me to, he brought me to a forest? I have so many questions about this guy and I can only hope that one of them will be answered, and by the time I can even figure one out, he probably will be stirring up more questions if that makes any sense. I seriously have no idea about what I talk about sometimes.
" Did you not bring a jacket? It's supposed to get to like 20 degrees out." Jayce asks as we walk into the trees.
" Oh gosh I should've thought about that before you kidnapped me." I say dryly.
Jayce rolls his eyes and unties the jacket around his waist and shoves it in my face and he laughs.
" Wow thanks." A say with a hint of sarcasm in my voice.
" Anytime princess." He grins.
We keep walking deeper into the forest having small conversations as we go, but I mostly do the talking. As soon as I think we couldn't go any farther, Jayce stops at a large tree.
" Jayce. I just wanted to say before you- "
" I'm not going to murder you......not yet at least, if you keep asking questions of course."
I huff and Jayce grabs hold of a branch on the tree. The tree has to be like 40ft. With dark brown bark, small buds on the smaller branches almost ready to bloom, and light green leaves shaped like stars.
Jayce grabs a hold of another branch with his right hand, and pulls himself up onto the branch above him, swinging his leg over it with such skill and then reaching a hand down for me to grab it.
" I'm surprised you're already climbing. After your injury you had gotten in Friday I thought you wouldn't be moving the next day." I state grabbing his hand and he pulled up onto the branch across from him.
" Well I've had worse from him." He says and then a look of regret forms on his face.
I look into his brown foggy eyes that we're filled with what looks like to be a mixture of guilt, sadness, but mostly anger. Nothing......happy.
" Jayce do you need help with anything. Like, anything at all?" I ask but it comes out as a whisper.
Jayce shakes his head and starts to climb again and I follow suit. I grab hold of a branch with my right hand just a little bit to the right of my head, and then take my left hand to the one across from it with my left hand. I then put my right foot onto the branch to the left above my knee, and lift up.
I finally reach the point where Jayce was, way of the ground, and sit beside him, our feet dangling off the branch. The sun was starting to set and my hands were starting to hurt.
" So uh, Jayce, why did you bring me here?" I ask breaking the silent between us.
Jayce faces me, his brown eyes stare at me as of he was trying to read my mind. He turns back to keep looking at the sun as if he doesn't want it to go down. He doesn't want it to become night time.
" I thought it would be a good idea since you weren't doing anything in hockey to get some exercise." He do finally says.
The silence becomes thick and I sigh. I'm not sure what we should talk about. I only got here 2 weeks ago and I have made more friends than I have ever had in my lifetime which now seems sad to think about. Jayce speaks up.
" What- What happened to your dad?"
