Just Write

I have been asked many times how I can be so proficient in writing. How am I able to write so many Poems and stories? What is my secret?

There is no secret.

To me, writing is simply about getting ideas out of your head and onto paper. It is not to say that every idea will be a good one, but every one is worthy of seeing the light. The biggest fear that I see with new and even more established writers, is that they want everything that they write to be a perfectly formed diamond. Simply doesn't happen.

It has been my experience that my diamonds are often less appreciated than my diamonds in the rough. People tend to see what you write as it pertains to their lives and not to yours. So, even though you might not think that what you have written holds any sustenance, that may not be the case for someone else.

That crumpled piece of paper in the garbage can, containing what you feel is an unfinished work, just might be something that influences someone else to open up their mind and write. So, really, does it deserve to be discarded.

If you feel that many of your Poems (for example) are not worthy of your stamp of approval, then start a collection of those poems and post them, just for fun. You might be surprised. To me, it doesn't matter that it is not perfect, it is a reflection of the way you felt, at that moment. And every feeling is simply a Poem waiting to be written.
