Chapter 76

ALEXIS POV

When I made it to St.Louis I got off the plain got my bags then caught a cab. I look on my phone and found a hotel close to the hospital. I told the cab driver to take me to the hotel and we rode in silence. Once we got there I grabbed my bags and went to the front desk.

Hello how may I help you today a lady said at the front desk.

Yes I would like to book a room for a week.

Ok ma'am she said with a smile. After I paid I went straight up to my room it is a beautiful room but I'm to sad to enjoy. I laid on the bed looking up at the ceiling when my stomach started to growl. I haven't ate all day so I will order room service. I looked on the menu and ordered a cheese burger and french fries. As I waited for my food I decided to call Abel he answered on the second ring.

Hey baby how you doing.

Im fine Abel I said.

What happened with your mom he asked.

I don't know yet I am going to the hospital tomorrow morning.

Oh have you ate anything yet lexi.

I ordered some food it's on the way as we speak.

Ok baby girl, are you in a hotel.

Yes Abel I am.

Oh, Adrien misses you already he cried so hard when you left.

Tell him I said I miss him too I said.

You tell him yourself he is right here.

Mommy I heard his little voice on the phone.

Hi baby yes it's mommy I said.

I miss mommy he said. He can talk but doesn't know a lot of word and it's cute how he say things.

I miss you to baby  I said.

I love mommy he said.

Mommy loves you I said with a smile on my face he always makes me happy.

Give the phone back to daddy I said.

Ok mommy night night he said.

Night night baby I said.

Hey Alexis I'm back did he make you feel better Abel said.

Yes a little bit I said.

Well good night baby girl call me tomorrow he said.

Ok I love you Abel.

I love you too girl, get some sleep he said. We both hung up and when I did I heard a knock on my door. I opened it and it was my food I took it and dug in when I sat down. After I ate I went straight to sleep on the bed.

THE NEXT MORNING

I woke up early and I'm feeling good. I don't want to see my mom laying in a hospital bed possibly her death bed. I got out of bed and went to take a shower feeling the warm water on my body relaxed me a little. After my shower I got dressed in a long sleeve black top and light blue skinny jeans.  I let my natural curls fall down my shoulders and put on some black shoes. After I got dressed I grabbed my phone and purse then left. The hospital isn't that far away so I'm going to walk.

15 MINUTES LATER.

Hi my name is Alexis I am Here to see Anabelle Johnson I said to the lady at the front desk.

Ok, who are you to her she asked.

I'm her daughters I said.

Ok room 425 she said with a smile. Once I got outside her room I took a deep breath and entered the room. She was there in bed sleep with a lot of things surrounding her. I went over to her and grabbed her hand I sat down in a chair beside her.

Mom I'm so sorry I haven't been here with you I said starting to cry. In the middle of crying I heard the door open.

Hi I'm Dr.Rice you must be her daughter a tall man said.

Yes I'm Alexis I said while wiping my eyes.

You're mom is not doing so great but we think she is going to push through.

What happened to her I asked.

She fell down the stairs and we found a lump on her breast he said.

What are you saying I said.

You're mom has breast cancer and it seems like she has had it for a while now he said.

Oh my god I said before sitting down in the chair and looking at my mom.

I'm very sorry that you have to hear this. I will leave you alone he said before leaving the room.

2 HOURS LATER.

I was watching tv when I saw my mom starting to move.

Mom I said to her.

Hey baby doll she said her voice sounds worn out.

Why didn't you tell me I asked.

I'm sorry honey I didn't want to worry you she said while grabbing my hand.

I don't care you should have told me I would have been here for you I said.

You have your own family Alexis it's my time to leave this earth she said.

Don't say that I need you here with me I said starting to cry.

Don't cry baby I will always be in your heart.

Please don't leave me mommy I need you I said starting to cry harder.

Alexis I'm in pain and if I need to leave I guess that what will happen she said.

But you don't look sick and in pain.

Just because I don't look like it doesn't mean I'm not hurting.

I'm so sorry mom I said.

Stop saying that I should be the one saying that.

I love you mom I said to her.

I love you to baby doll.

7:30 PM

I was sleep holding my mom's hand when I heard her starting to cough.

Mom are you ok I said. She didn't reply she just kept coughing I ran into the hallway and called a nurse to help. When she came in my mom's heart monitor start to flat line.

MOM NO MOM I started yelling. Some men pushed my out the door so they could work on her.
