Eliza and I split off from everyone else to go hang up posters. I'm so proud of our work! Eliza wrote 'Encourage' in big, amazingly well drawn bubble letters, except instead of a 'g', we drew the feminist symbol. It looks so good! Angie explained what the club was about in her beautiful penmanship. Peggy and I drew roses in the background to symbolize how us women can be both beautiful and dangerous. I love it so much! Insert girly girl sqeals here!
"We should go hang some up in the library," Eliza says. "I mean, you know how much Theo goes there."
"Good idea. A lot of people will see them," I reply. I stop admiring the posters to just stare at Eliza while she struggles to get a new roll of tape onto the dispenser. God, she's so beautiful....
She finally gets it on and sees me staring at her. I blush. "C'mon, let's go," I say quickly, motioning for her to come walk towards the library. Once we enter she walks over to a group of boys. It looks like one of them are actually trying to study and the other three are just bored.
"Hey guys," Eliza says.
"Hey," they respond. Or, I should say, the three that aren't studying respond.
"Want to 'study' with us?" the biggest of the boys say, using air quotes on the word study. I recognize him from some of my classes. Hercules?
"Hahaha, no." Eliza responds. "I'm hanging up some posters with Maria. Plus, Alex is the only one actually studying." At this Alex looks up.
"Yeah. They wanted to keep me company, but honestly, I would be better off without it fight now." He says, smiling deviously.
"Ugh, whatever. Need any help?" a freckled boy says to Eliza.
"No, we've got it covered. Just wanted to say hi. And also tell Laf that Jefferson has leftover mac and cheese," she added.
"AU REVOIR, MON AMIS! I'M GOING TO GET SOME MAC AND CHEESE!" the tallest one says, running out of the library.
Hercules sighs and looks at me. "Oh! Maria, isn't it?" I nod. "You and Eliza are friends?"
I blush a tiny bit. "Oh, yeah. I just met her a week or so ago," I say. Eliza similes at me.
"Yeah, we're both in Encourage," she says. They all looks confused.
"Encourage?"
"Yeah. It's a new feminist club. Don't worry about it." Eliza winks as she walks away. She motions for me to follow her, so I do, waving at Hercules. He's a pretty nice guy.
"Who are those people? Freinds?" I ask her.
"Yeah. The guy who was actually studying was Alexander Hamilton. He's new here," she says. "The freckled one was John Laurens, the French one who went to get mac and cheese was Lafayette, and it seems like you know Hercules."
"Yeah, we have a bunch of classes together," I say.
"Cool. You'll probably get to know them better later. You know Angie. She likes to host parties," Eliza says.
I laugh. "Yeah." We hang up the rest of the posters and start to head back to my and Theo's dorm when Eliza stops for some snacks from a vending machine.
The urge rushes through me. Just a sudden impulse, but I have to do it. Eliza just looks so beautiful right now, and how she treats everyone else, like everyone in the world are little cinnamon rolls too...
I kiss her right on the lips. As soon as I see the shocked look on her face, I regret it. I quickly pull away. "I'm sorry, I don't know what came through me—" I start to say.
I am cut off by Eliza dropping her snacks and kissing me back. I wrap my arms around her waist. Oh my god, she is so amazing! She smells exactly like morning dew and hugs me like a soft puppy in my arms. We are locked in this position for a couple of minutes. I relax my grip on her as she slowly pulls away. We both blush, still holding each other.
"Are you— are you a lesbian?" I ask somewhat awkwardly.
"I'm bi," she replies. "You're a lesbian?"
I nod. "We should probably head back now."
We walk back to my and Theo's dorm in awkward silence. When we get back Angie is about to leave.
"WHERE HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN?" she screams at us. "WE WERE SO WORRIED!"
"You were so worried," Peggy corrects her.
"Angie, calm down. We stopped to tell Laf that Jefferson had mac and cheese." Eliza says. I smile at that. She's not lying.
"Fine. Just please son't scare me like that again." Angie says.
"Ok, ok, we're all good, now shoo!" Peggy says as she pushes Angie outside with us. "It's makeover time for Theo!" Theo blushes a little from inside our dorm.
"Bye! Have fun!" Eliza, Angie and I say in unison.
"Well, I just kicked out of my dorm." I say. "Any chance I could crash with you guys tonight?"
"Sure!" and "Yes!" Angie and Eliza say at the same time.
Once Peggy gets home we watch 'The Princess and the Frog'. Angie and Peggy both fall asleep halfway though.
"Umm, where do you want to sleep?" Eliza asks awkwardly. "The couch is kinda—" she motions to Pegs and Angie "—full."
"I was thinking— maybe— I could sleep with you?" I ask. She blushes.
"Umm... sure!" She says, looking like a really ripe cherry.
We walk up to her very blue bedroom and she closes the door softly as I change into my pajamas. I climb into her bed and we cuddle with each other as we slowly fall asleep.
Eliza smiles. "Goodnight, Maria."
"Goodnight, Eliza," I say, kissing her on her cheek.
