"So we are somehow able to grab this Thanos guy and hold him down. We take the gauntlet... who is gonna be the one to grab it?"
"I am," you said.
Tony scoffed. "No."
You shot him a dirty look. "Dad. This whole Avenger thing? Yeah, I've been doing it for a while." You glanced at Rocket for help.
But Rocket looked almost guilty as he spoke. "Uh, your daddy there is right, you ain't doin' it," Rocket agreed, crossing his arms.
You glared at him. "You've gotta be kidding me."
"I ain't kiddin' you," he said, lifting his shoulders in a shrug.
"You guys realize I can handle myself, right?"
"Never said you couldn't," your friend continued, "but that doesn't mean I like the idea of you doin' it anymore."
"Exactly. Thank you," your father said. He glanced at Rhodes. "Although a raccoon trying to protect my daughter is still a little weird."
Rhodes nodded in understanding.
Carol said, "She wouldn't be doing it alone."
"Yes!" You gestured to her. "Thank you!" Looking at your dad, who seemed less than convinced still, you continued. "What if Carol and I grab it together? We have the same powers. If we hit him at the same time, maybe his grip will slip or something."
Tony shook his head.
You sighed and crossed the room. "Dad, we don't have the time or the options to pretend there's a choice here that we will all agree with. I know you don't want to lose anybody-"
"Least of all you," he muttered.
You huffed. "But if it wasn't going to be me offering to grab it, then you would be. And if you think I wouldn't rush over there to be by your side - or by any other person here's side - then you're crazy, Dad. Let me do this. I can handle it, I know that I can."
He clenched his jaw. "You... if you train more with Carol and Thor and they teach you how to use this power better - then I will maybe, possibly, consider it." He pointed a finger at you as you smirked. "I said possibly."
"The fight needs to be soon," Steve said. "We need to train hard these next few days and then finish this."
"We will," Tony said.
"We need to put our heads together and come up with a few weapon designs, maybe even a few suit designs... all the things we were starting to do before my dad came back." You glanced at Rocket, who nodded. "We're still working on a few guns. If you help us, Dad, we can add my power to your suit and Rhodey's. Steve and Nat, you can contact Wakanda and see if they are willing to fight with us one more time. And... and don't give up on finding Clint."
"We won't," Nat answered for both of them. She looked at Steve, and then they walked off together. Bruce started to follow, but you grabbed his arm.
"We're gonna need you," you said.
He took a glance over at Nat, and you wondered what that was about for just a moment, but you dropped it.
"Carol?"
She was already walking towards you. "I'll help you."
You glanced at Thor, who stood up from his place on the couch. "I need to try to contact my people. Half of them are still out there somewhere. Perhaps less than half by now. But I have to try to contact them. I'm their king still."
"Go," Tony said, and Thor ducked out of the room.
Scott awkwardly clapped his hands together. "It's like getting picked last for kickball," he said, flashing a smile. "But t-there's still a place for me here, right?"
