Landon and Josie were deep in a conversation revolving around memory restoration spells.
"Why do you need a memory spell anyway?" Josie asked him as they poured through books in the library.
"I forgot where I left my wallet. I was seeing if you knew anything that would help."
"Landon?" Dr. Saltzman asked standing in the doorway. "May I speak with you?"
Landon nodded. "Thanks Jo, catch you later."
"Bye Landon."
Landon crossed the threshold and followed Dr. Saltzman through the school until they arrived at his office.
"What's up?" Landon asked as he pondered the room.
"Did you forget about the part where I said that what we're doing doesn't leave this room?" He asked closing his hands and putting them on the desk.
"Ohhhh, you heard all that. Yeah, funny thing. I couldn't find my wallet." Landon said trying to play it off.
Dr. Saltzman chuckled. "Be careful, anyways that's not what I wanted to discuss with you. I have news."
Landon suddenly interested took a seat in front of the headmaster. "What is it?"
Alaric pulled out a book about magical herbs and remedies and placed it on the desk opening to a specific story.
"There's a story. Where a small village in West Africa woke up with no memories. They didn't know where they were, who they were. Nothing."
"We're trying to fix memories, not take them away. Where are you going with this?" Landon asked.
"Let me finish." Dr. Saltzman said holding up his hand as he went on reading. "A witch appeared in the village after they hadn't been to the mark to trade in weeks. She sprinkled a magical remedy known as Cortexal Powder, within minutes their memories were restored."
"Where do we find this?" Landon asked excited and hopeful.
"You're in luck. There's a witch, in Mystic Falls, an old friend who has agreed to give us the Cortexal Powder. We're leaving in five." Dr. Saltzman said to Landon.

I watched as Hope inhaled her fifth burger before looking down at the one plate that I had."Jeez, how long has it been since you ate?" I asked her.
"What day is it?" She asked.
"May 15th." I said to her.
Her eyes widened before she replied. "Four months."
I nearly choked on my water.
"Anyway, why did your dream lead you to me?"
"I'm looking for Salvatore. A voice in my head said that it was safe for people like me?" I said sounding stupid. "I know it sounds dumb."
"No, it doesn't." She said surely. "What are you?"
"I'm a human."
"Cut the crap. When did you turn? Did you die and come back to life? Can you do magic." She asked.
"Can you?" I asked confused.
She nodded. "I'm a witch, and a werewolf, and a vampire. So I ask again. What are you?"
"I'm a human, I mean yeah I have a voice in my head and my dreams come true all the time. But I can't run super fast, I'm not super strong, I haven't turned into a wolf, I don't crave blood, and I sure as hell cant do magic." I said frustrated.
"Yeah that's definitely not normal. I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what you help me get back to the school and we will find out what you are." Hope said to me.
"And if I'm not special?" I asked.
"I highly doubt there's not something special about you but if you aren't then you won't remember so it won't matter." She said to me. "Come on, I'll explain everything you need to know on the way."

"I can't believe she just forked it over like that." Landon said as he got back into the car."Not everything has a catch." Alaric said to Landon as he turned the key.
Landon gave him an eye. "Every since I became part of this world, everything has a catch."
Dr. Saltzman chuckled. "What happened four months ago was a one time thing, we won't have any school years like that again."
"Why do I feel like that's not true?" Landon asked uncomfortably.
"Hello everyone. I have gathered you here today to discuss some very important matters." Dr. Saltzman said from the stairs of the cafeteria to the rest of the students who were gathered before him. "As you know there has been a great shadow that has covered the defeat of Malivore and what truly happened on that night. This is going to sound crazy, trust me it sounds crazy myself. Now, everyone here knows that when you go into the pit all memory of you is erased. Which is what happened to all of us." Alaric began.
Whispers flew through the cafeteria wondering what could've happened.
"There was girl who used to go here. Her name was Hope Mikealson. She was a tribrid, werewolf, vampire, and witch. She was a great student, a great fighter, and she was loved by all of you. Anyway, I received a call late at night. She told me her plan and that I needed to go to Malivore to bring Landon home. When I got there I didn't know who called for me to help Landon and Landon didn't know anything either." Alaric said.
"How do we know Landon didn't push her in?" Someone in the back asked.
Landon was about to stand up but Dr. Saltzman held him off.
"Hope knew Landon would try to stop her, and since she knew that Landon is basically immortal she killed him before giving herself to the pit. Now, I know what you are wondering. How did she know it would work? The truth is that Malivore was created by a werewolf, a vampire, and a witch which meant he could only be destroyed by a Werewolf, and Vampire, and a Witch." Dr. Saltzman said.
"Why are you telling us all this if we're not even going to remember her?" Kaleb asked.
"Because you will remember." Dr. Saltzman said nodding at Josie who snapped her fingers causing the Cortexal Powder to spread like a disease infecting everyone at Josie's command.
"Landon, if she's alive. We will find her."
