The ride home felt faster than the ride there was.

We took a flight from Denver straight to Virginia. No layover, no nothing.

"Hey, are you okay?" Landon asked me.

My leg was twitching and I had stared out the plane window the entire flight.

"No, I just have this gut feeling that something isn't right. Something about was Epimetheus said."

"And what did he say?" Hope asked me.

"That a War is brewing."

"I have a feeling that whoever was after the box as well will be waiting for us at the gates of Salvatore." Olivia said as we walked out of the airport.

"I wouldn't cross that off the list." I said as we got into a taxi and told them the address to the school.

"Dr. Saltzman." A man said as Alaric made his way to the closed front gates.

"And you are?"

"My name is Thanatos, you may also refer to me as the God of Death." The man was deathly pale, his aura seemed to suck the warmth out of the air as a cold breeze swept through the air.

He wore a large tattered cloak and had a scythe at his hip.

"You're the Grim Reaper." Alaric said noticing the man's look.

Thanatos laughed maniacally. "Trust me, I am so much worse." He said as he paced back and forth on the other side of the gate.

"What do you want?" Alaric asked him clearly not afraid.

"I want the box." Thanatos snarled.

"Neither are here."

"I figured as much, if they do not return within two hours. You can kiss your school goodbye." The man said before disappearing in a cloud of black smoke.

Alaric turned and marched into the school fuming.

He sent a quick prayer that the four would return to the school quickly before Thanatos returned.

"All students please gather in the cafeteria." Alaric said through the intercom.

Alaric sat on the stairs and waited for every student to gather in the cafeteria. Alaric rubbed his hands anxiously before rising to his feet.

"Students of Salvatore, the time has come to protect our school. Thanatos, the Greek God of Death plans to lay waste to us and our school shall he not receive Pandora's Box within the next two hours."

"Then let's hand them over." Someone from the back yelled.

Rafael, Kaleb, and MG sent him a look that shut him up.

"The younger students and anyone not willing to fight will be evacuated to the catacombs. Everyone else prepare yourselves."

Hope punched in the gate code and the four of us ran down the driveway and through the front doors.

Everything seemed fine.

At least that's what I thought until we entered the school.

Everyone was preparing for battle. Crossbows were being passed around, daggers. Witches practicing spells, werewolves going through transformations, vampires drinking blood.

"Ash!" A voice called and pushing through the crowd came Josie.

"Hey Jo." I said as we hugged each other for a second.
