"Watch your backs." I whispered as we boarded the bus. "Trust no one." I subtly glanced at Olivia who was walking next to me. It was definitely suspicious, dating a traitor to Olympus and then suddenly wanting to come along on the quest.
Hope sat down in her seat and I was hoping that Olivia was going to sit next to her but no such luck. Landon beat her to it.
He gave me an apologetic smile as I sat next to Olivia who took the window seat.
It was nearly three o'clock in the morning by the time the bus had pulled away. Hope and Landon were asleep, Hope's head laying against Landon's shoulder while his head rested on top of hers. I smiled at the couple.
Olivia stared out the window.
"Why are you here?" I asked her.
"I want to help." She said without looking at me.
I was silent.
"You don't trust me do you?" She asked quietly.
I shook my head. "After what you did? Not a chance." I said to her remembering how she had gone to homecoming with Jack knowing he was just trying to hurt me. Which meant she had purposely hurt me.
"It was an accident." She said finally looking at me.
I rolled my eyes. "You knew. You knew that he wanted to hurt me and you let him. Why should I trust you?"
"You're right." She said defeated.
"Was it worth it?" I asked her after a few minutes.
"Was what worth it?"
"Was hurting me to please him worth it?" I asked sadly.
She turned back towards the window. "No, you're a good guy and he was a bully. I intentionally did something to hurt another person emotionally. I guess all I achieved was proving to you that Josie and Hope were right about me."
"Admitting you messed up. At least you're doing something right." I said coldly before closing my eyes and putting my head back against the seat.
Someone nudged me awake.
I slowly opened my eyes, it was bright outside compared to the pitch blackness it had been when I shut my eyes.
"What time is it?" I asked feeling a heavy weight on my shoulder.
"It's almost eight come on, we gotta hop on the next bus." Hope whispered. "Wake her up."
I looked over at the mop of red hair that was covering my shoulder. She had wrapped both of her arms around my one arm and was sleeping soundly.
A small smile appeared on my lips but left just as quickly as I shook her awake. "We're moving, let's go."
"And you're still grumpy." She said annoyed as we followed Hope and Landon off the bus.
"Why is it so busy at eight in the morning?" I complained. I glanced around the skyline as large building rose up around us. "Where are we?"
"Nashville, Tennessee. I read that your blood is like an enormous signal on the monster radar. Being around more people keeps your scent lower." Hope said as we walked through the street.
"I hate crowds." I said as someone bumped into me.
"Retweet." Olivia said bumping into me as someone bumped her.
"Watch it." I said to her.
"Take the stick out of your butt." She hissed back.
"Stop fighting. You're going to draw attention." Landon said rather serious for his general personality.
