I eventually fell back asleep during the trip towards Los Angeles. Although, it was sort of hard to thanks to Donovan's occasional thoughts of a team name kept coming to his head. I woke up a little while later, laying against Bailey. She was softly running her fingers through my hair.
"I got it. The Electric Express!"
"No," Jamie said, which she happened to say a lot.
"The Shockers?"
Jamie thought about that one for a second, but resulted to the same answer. "Nah."
I frowned as an idea came to mind. "The Powerclan?"
"That's sorta basic, but not bad," Donovan said, frowning as well.
"I like it," Bailey said, still playing with my hair. "Has a nice ring to it."
"The Powerclan," Jamie repeated, nodding her head. "I like it too. I think we could go with that one. It's basic, sure, but it has a simple but powerful name to it."
My mom was the only one who didn't say anything. I leaned to look at her, and she still looked tired, but focused heavily on the road. I tried to talk to her. "What do you think, Mom?"
She shrugged. "I like it. Same with what Jamie said."
The way she said that sounded like she was angry, but with a mix of other emotions as well. I was too, so I didn't blame her for it.
After a little bit of silence, I spoke back up again with a question. "Where are we?"
"Almost in California. About another thirty minutes," my mother answered.
"When can we get something to eat?"
"I'd like to get into California first, then we will. I'm pretty hungry too."
"Yeah, my stomach feels empty," Bailey said.
My mom sighed and sped up some, which caused me to stare out of the window somehow. I typically did that when I wanted to think about something that was on my mind.
Bailey fiddled on her phone, plugging her headphones back in and turned on her favorite music artist, which seemed like Taylor Swift as of now. I was sure that would change sooner or later. I just laid against her, staring out of the window across from me.
I became nervous once I had time to think. This time, I was aware of Bailey reading my mind, but I didn't really care. She deserved to hear me.
I was nervous and scared for my father, obviously. I didn't know if he was even alive at this point. Hell, if he's not, I'm going after Dr. Lin.
And I'm sure everyone else that's in the car with me now would want to go with me. This whole thing happened without much warning, after all. Suddenly my dad is kidnapped, and all of us with electrical powers have no choice but to save him.
I looked over at Donovan, who was staring out of the window like I was. He kept sighing every now and then, which seemed to make Jamie worried. She was reading a book that seemed interesting to me. I didn't bother her about it, though.
Hey.
I leaned further back into Bailey. What's up?
You. That's what's up. I was reading your thoughts, and you're right.
About?
She was quiet for a minute. Um, Taylor Swift.
I smiled, which was needed. Then I chuckled quietly, fortunately not drawing any attention to myself.
