Once I got home, I constantly kept my hands in my pockets and avoided my parents asking me how the game went.

"Mason, are you okay?" I heard my mom call after me.

I guessed my dad was still working, which didn't surprise me in any was possible.

I shut and locked the door, and I realized that a faint glow was illuminating off of me. I jumped back in surprise.

"Holy...what the hell is going on?"

I clenched my fist, and nothing happened. Tensing up my left hand, a spark of electricity arched in between my fingers. Out of curiosity, I aimed my fingers towards the bean bag I always sat in to watch TV, and a flash of electricity hit it, making a loud POP.

"Mason!? What's going on in there!?"

I sighed deeply and calmed myself down before I went out there. I found her in the hallway, and I knew that she was about to come in my room anyway.

"Mason, what's going on?" She asked again.

I didn't really know what to say. Should I tell her the truth? Would she even believe me?

What would dad say if he was here?

She saw the look on my face, and her expression turned from a mix of fear and anger, to concern. "What's going on?"

"I...I don't know," I said, shaking my head.

"What was that noise I heard?" She asked, referring to the bean bag.

"My light bulb popped..." I lied.

She squinted at me, and I began to get nervous. "Why are you glowing?"

I stammered. "U-Uhm..."

"Mason, just talk to me please. You know that you can always talk to me about anything."

"Mom, I don't know what to say!" I yelled out of frustration. She took a step back in surprise, staring deeply at me.

She thought for a minute, then nodded. "Show me what that noise was."

I led her back to my room, and the bean bag was there, burnt on one side that you could see all the way through it. She immediately noticed it, and looked at me with even more concern.

"What happened?"

I shrugged, still finding an excuse. "I shot it."

"Christ, with what?"

Well, it was a pretty big gap, and there wasn't really a gun that I could think of that would do that. After finding no more excuses, I lowered my head.

"Mason..." She said, coming up to me and picking my head up to look at her. "Please, what's been going on? I probably already know."

She said that like she really did, which made me even more indecisive. I stepped back and laid my hand out in front of her. My mother seemed confused at this, and even a little bit scared. I pulsed, and the electricity arched between my fingers, crackling with power.

My mom just stared, with no emotion whatsoever. I finally stopped, waiting to hear about what she had to say about it.

"Sit down, Mason," She said, motioning towards the bed. I obeyed, making some room for her.

"Your dad was right, unfortunately."

I frowned. "About what?"

She sighed, looking back at the bean bag. What was concerning me was that she still seemed scared.

"It would be easier to let him explain. He won't be home until late tonight, so go ahead and get to bed. I'll talk to him. I love you," She said as she kissed me on the forehead and walked out, leaving me in my own thoughts.

The next day started slow, but fortunately it was a Friday. I haven't seen Bailey, fortunately, although I did want to talk to her about the slip-up last night. I scanned the cafeteria for her, but I didn't see her. Me and Donovan sat down at the table, since we were the first to get there.

"You okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, just something came up between me and my mom. Nothing bad, just concerning," I said, sighing deeply afterwards.

Donovan frowned. "Concerning? How?"

I shook my head, debating on if I should tell him or not. He was a trustworthy guy, albeit. We've known each other since we were basically babies, so we knew everything about each other.

"Come on Mase. You know that I know when something is wrong. And something is wrong, so you might as well tell me," he said, staring at me.

I looked around, and nobody else was paying attention to us. I lowered my voice, just in case. "Look under the table."

He frowned, slightly shaking his head. Once he did, I pulsed gently, and he yelped in surprise. I saw a few heads turn, so I stopped. Thankfully, nobody said anything.

"Mason, you're electric too?" He said in a low and serious voice.

I stared at him hard, and I nodded slowly. But before we could say anything else, I saw Jamie walking to the table.

"Talk later," I said quickly, and I flashed a kind smile towards her direction, mostly to make sure she doesn't expect anything unusual.

"Hey Mason, good dunk last night!" She said.

"Thanks. Any idea on where Bailey might be?" I asked, sort of nervously.

She smiled, knowing I had a thing for her. "No, I think she's sick today, but I'm not sure."

Jamie and Bailey has always been close childhood friends, just like me and Donovan. As a matter of fact, all of us have similar birthdays as well. Mine was on the second of April, Donovan was the fifteenth. Jamie's was March 26th, I wasn't sure of Bailey's.

The bell eventually rang for first period, and Donovan gently grabbed my arm before I was able to walk away. "I'll meet you at your house after school so we can talk. I'm electric too, and now that I know you are, something isn't right."

With that, he walked away with Jamie.

Shaking that off, I began to walk towards my first period, and I met Bailey along the way by herself, which was unusual.

"Hey Mason," She said, looking at me in the eyes.

"Hey Bailey, sorry for shocking you last night. How are you?"

"I'm fine," She said, glancing at the overhead clock. "Um, can I come to your house after school? There's something I would like to talk to you about."

Okay, this day was already weird enough, knowing Donovan is electric now. Now Bailey wants to come over to my house?

"Um, sure I guess," I said, probably about to faint.

"Great! Give me your number so you can text me your address."

She put my number in her phone and hugged me. It actually lasted longer than I thought it would, and she walked away, giving me that golden smile.

"See you soon!"

For a second I was scared that I would've shocked her again, but this time I was able to control it.

But I was wondering. What could be so important enough for her to want to come over? I could only guess at this point.
