I woke up in a cold sweat, and it wasn't because I had another bad dream. Something wasn't right, because my stomach was telling me so. It had that feeling of fear, or you know something bad is going to happen. I glanced at the clock on the nightstand, and it read 3:30 in the morning. I groaned quietly, wanting to go back to sleep. Bailey was still passed out cuddling next to me.
As my gaze drifted to Donovan and Jamie's bed, something didn't quite look right. The sheets were tossed to one side as if someone just climbed out of the bed. I climbed out of my warm and comfortable bed and tiptoed over there, trying not to wake anyone up.
Realizing that Donovan wasn't in the bed, I frowned. I looked behind me, and the bathroom light was off and the door wide open. I moved over to Jamie's side and gently shook her awake. She mumbled and turned away from me. I shook her again, this time harder.
"Wake up," I whispered. "Do you know where Donovan is?"
The question caused her to turn her head towards me. A look of confusion settled on her face. "No, I never knew he got up..."
Nervousness began to settle into my stomach. I went to where Landon was asleep in a chair with his head dangling off the back of it and his mouth wide open, softly snoring. I never knew he snored.
Gently shaking him awake, he woke with an aggressive start. "What? What's going on?"
"Where's Donovan?" I asked quietly but urgently.
Landon, although confused, looked around for a minute. Later he gasped and cursed loudly, enough to wake everyone else up.
"He's being taken! It's Welch!"
"Damn it! Everyone up, Donovan's in trouble!" I yelled.
Everyone frantically put their shoes and and bolted out the door, with me in front. We ran down the stairs to the first floor, and right before we made it to the lobby, Landon stopped suddenly. I turned back to him.
"What's wrong?"
He bowed his head and gave a grim expression, looking defeated. "He's gone."
I didn't want to believe it. "No, he can't be gone. He can't be."
Jamie put her hand over her mouth and shook her head in disbelief. "No..."
My mother wrapped her in her arms, giving her comfort. She glanced at me with tears forming in her eyes. Landon sighed deeply. "He's gone. They took him away."
Feeling the anger rising up in me, and without thinking, I punched the wall, leaving a massive and deep hole in it. Everyone stepped back in fear. Pulling it out, it stung a little, and electricity began to arch in between the fingers. I then abruptly turned to the group, and it looked strange without our strongest Powerclan member.
"We will stop at nothing to bring him back, understood?" I turned to Landon, who looked nervous and scared. "Landon, we need you more than ever to track him down."
He took a breath and nodded. "Okay. I'll try my best."
I gave him a brave smile, although it didn't feel like one. "That's all I'm asking for. Let's pay for that hole in the wall and go find my best friend."

Donovan woke up, and his head was spinning like crazy. His body felt drained, and he had almost no energy in him. The only things he could remember was seeing a creepy old guy, and NGZ soldiers with tranquilizer guns. That was about it.
He tried to look around him, but even that was hard. Donovan's head was pounding with pain, and it felt like his neck was holding a cinder block. He could make out that he was probably in a semi truck, because it felt and looked like the back of one, but Donovan couldn't feel any motion from it. He was alone, strapped to a chair with one of those devices strapped around his chest. It looked like the same ones that he had when he was captured in Pasadena, breaking in to the academy and rescuing Landon.
