Jason's POVSitting on a round huge, silver made dining table with dad on the head table, I was on his right, mum on his left and her outlandish friend sitting next to her then her daughter was right next to me.
Okay, let's drop this turbulent moment and face the tip. I was called earlier by mum, to be ready for an urgent dinner, only to be welcomed by two total strangers. A weirdly looking woman with a sullen face, I however thought she scares children off by mere looking at them, then on the other hand was her daughter with a pitch black hair and an amber eyes, she seems young and tensed.
Not long enough, dinner was served by the maids and they dig in. I was nonetheless waiting for someone to speak out but it fell through, I turned to my left, the girl which I hadn't known her name was picking on her food while her mum gave her a dead glare. I looked at my dad and he just gave me a lengthy smile then to my mum and the same occurred.
The whole stunt was eating me up and I couldn't hold back anymore, the awkwardness was infuriating and irritating to me. I have a lot of work to attend to in my study at home but they had to make me come here just to keep mute.
"I've had enough, can someone tell me what's going on here?!!" I loud out at once and they all fidgeted apart from dad.
Mom cough slightly. "Jason, this is Keith Ward my old friend and also my full-time business partner and this is her beautiful daughter, Sophia Ward" she smiled at her last sentence.
I nodded to let her move on with her speech as she continued. "You know, for future progress, am willing to join my company with theirs because we cooperate together for the past twenty three years I built my company. There will be a business conference instigation, It will be a good way to get clients if the two company merges together and present the outlook. Am getting old for all these stuffs, we need the young ones into these challenge" she said entwining her fingers together.
"So, what are you insinuating?" I've known my mum as a serious - headed workaholic woman whom work one's tail off, never ready for her family right when I was a child. A woman who always thinks that work comes first.
Nevertheless, I respects her for her diligence and determination. She's a strong woman who built up a huge company all by herself. Well, the same goes with me, I inherited my dad's but that doesn't mean I have mine and lots more to handle.
"We want you both to be together, you know get married as soon as possi..."
I cut her off. "Married?!!, what sort of rubbish is that? choosing a wife for me all in the name of improving your own company...you must be a joker, mum? Why would you wanna pull this kinda tricks with me?" I yelped hitting my fist hard on the table.
"Jason, listen very carefully. I raised my company so hard all alone and am not gonna let it fall, okay...you are my son and their is no going back, darling...."
"Why not merge your company with mine? I have a lot of it, you know. I did everything you wanted, I gave you anything you wanted, mum?.. I know what going in your mind but trust me, this one? it won't work!!"
"Anna, I told you I was not in support of this, look at him...he's a full grown man now and you can't choose a wife for him " dad spoke, thanks to him.
"No Steven!!" Mum blurted out.
"That's just the same thing you did to your daughter Eva, I can't blame her for not getting in touch with you anymore. Why are you so worked up, Anna? Can't you face your family for once?" Dad gritted out, he was furiously fisting his palm. Eva is my senior sister, she was urged to get married to one of mum's business partner but she declined and left home. She's happily married with her family in California but that doesn't mean I and dad don't get in touch with her. She is my sweet sister.
